Yea that's what I'm hoping. But there were stretches in that 2nd half we really played atrociously. Especially the tackling. And the impotence on offense was startling. It was a bit like last year's FSU game.
Yea but the DL is what saved our asses last night. Damon Wilson almost single handedly.
Fortunately at this point I think Wake would beat Clemson by double digits.
And Wiley. I don't think he got a snap last night.

It’s a work in progress , this was never going to be smooth riding like some thought. I still think this team can be really good but we need improvement especially the OL
We also blitzed a lot more to get more consistent pressure. I thought the interior DL would be a lot more dominate to help the less experienced edges. OL we all knew would take time but UF has a long ways to go
It was more than a quarter, a play here or there it could’ve been VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. A dropped TD then later missing a wide open flat route that likely scores . They moved the ball really well in second half. Maybe I’m not acting smarter than others but more not eating my boogers thinking everything is fine. There’s a whole lot to improve. I remember the same thing happening here after the horrible finish at FSU last year then UL and Smu happened , I was “overreacting”. Seeing red flags the first three games and calling it out isn’t being super smart.
Last year didn't look like a Natty team either until they were. So we just have to let the games be played and see where the chips fall at the end. Expectations should still be high especially with our schedule.
Not saying this team can’t improve as the year goes on , as we get healthy and guys get more acclimated with roles but last year we had two key areas we dominated in. OL and DL. If you’re as good as we were at those two groups you always have a good shot. Great trenches in a the one area national champions have in common. Which is why I was so furious after the two upsets , we were wasting national title quality trenches.
I don’t even think you watched the play to be honest. If you are talking about the deep ball to 9, he didn’t throw it short. He overthrew him by about 5 yards. Come back and let’s talk when you aren’t drunk. Bottom line is the defense affected that throw. It happens to every QB that plays the game.
Mensah was rattled in second half , he makes that throw 9 out of 10 times . After he started limping in late second half he was never the same so maybe it was an injury and the pressure bothering him. Wake made adjustments in second half going more man and playing more games with the DL that caused confusion in OL.

You’re not “overreacting”, by calling it out. I’ve been critical of your game day evals in the past, but you’re entirely on point here. There IS a whole lot to improve here. The “team” is aware of it and that’s the good part. Time is also on our side, at the moment. However, the “team” is also aware that we are not optimum in several areas and that there WILL be things that will be treated as “do the best we can with what we have”…….that’s the part that concerns all of us.
