Y’all talk about Cb play, safety play has been even worse

We exclusively ran Safety/CB blitzes on the left side that entire drive!! At least 5 in a row. Never have I seen that before.
I don't have a background in design, but I know that if a LT is calmly kicking out expecting to handle Tecory Couch (at least one of my guys is playing well, ha), the element of surprise is no longer on our side.

I honestly don’t know what any of Hall’s strengths are other than fair catching. Dude completely whiffed on an open field tackle on 3rd down early in the game.

Two observations regarding Baker's "scheme", and I use that term loosely.

1. The more aggressive he gets at the line of scrimmage in terms of blitzing, the more conservative he gets on the back end. Almost every time we blitz we're in a cover 3 shell playing off coverage. A good team with a good passing attack will rip this to shreds.

2. For the life of me I don't understand why he doesn't mix in more man under 2 deep looks. We ran it on the final drive and you could see the difference. The one thing Blades and Ivey seem to do well is press man coverage. They suck with the ball in the air but they do a decent job of staying with their men.

#2 above is kinda the same gripe I have with Lashlee. It just feels this coaching staff doesn't do a good job of taking inventory of what WE DO have, and building a scheme around our strengths.

I'm going to keep saying this.....on offense we should be running a two tight end ACE offense ALL GAME LONG. I cannot understand how they can justify taking one or either of Brevin or Mallory off the field AT ANY MOMENT. Those two should be in the game TOGETHER all game long. Newsflash, it will also help the run game since they each block better than an additional receiver would.

On defense, we should be playing a **** of a lot more press man.

It's mind boggling this coaching staff can't recognize this. A big part of being a good coach is the ability to self evaluate.

I don't get it man. I just don't think our players are being utilized like they should.

I saw gurvan take bad angles a lot today ... Manny gotta gut the defensive side of coaching like he did with the offense last year

What has happened to Hall man wow he’s bad and Blades I thought the kid was a beast....this may be controversial but i think the younger players come in with fresh mentalities and excitement but because of past losing cultures by the time they hit junior/senior year they start to take on that mentality and we see players regress. I seen it with so many guys the past 5-10 years and it’s something Manny needs to fix maybe I’m wrong or not explaining this correctly but yea just my thoughts

This is the million dollar question. Firing Enos wasn't hard....firing friends who have been with you for a while but keep producing underperforming units is MUCH harder. At the very least Rumph needs to be brought before the altar of sacrifice. If you're a position coach you HAVE to excel EITHER at recruiting or the ability to be a technical teacher. He can't recruit for crap and couldn't even secure those elite kids he coached in high school. Add to that in regards to on-the-field-play, his DB's have zero awareness with regards to taking angles and playing the ball in the air.

He's alumni and will always be a Cane, but my hunch is he belongs at the high school level. This is a results driven business.

Couch is the best thing going with our secondary. All this talk about blue chippers in the secondary and they look god awful. They are not being developed at all!

Our defensive staff is NOT Miami caliber. I don’t know how many times we have to say this before some of you get it. Until that changes we won’t win a thing. If we make the Orange Bowl, someone is going to march up and down the field on us.

Are you still rooting for Pitt or whoever we play next ?

Well no one ever said the bartender was some coaching genius. Oh he can recruit? Then he should be with DVD and Cooney.

We have 2 DB corches and they both can’t coach. We have 3 LB corches and they all can’t coach. Surprise surprise, 2 of our worst positions on D.

Gurvin Hall played very poorly. He couldn’t cover, tackle, and took bad angles. He looks slow and mostly trailing when making a play. I don’t understand why he’s regressing. I rather see Cam Harris returning punts than Hall. I can’t wait for Avante next year.

Hes been hurt the last few games. Either his groin or foot. He was hobbling one game and Diaz said he's playing on one leg that post-game. Before that he was playing better. Maybe these 2 or 3 weeks off can get him and Bubba healthy. The corners are just laughable at this point

There will be opportunities for the freshmen safeties next year for sure.
What makes the freshmen safeties any different? The upperclassmen are Manny’s guys also. It’s clear they don’t receive any coaching. We’ll probably have this same conversation again about the freshmen in the future.

Hes trying to cover for his boyfriend as usual. This is what he does. Tries to deflect the failure at corner and picks another position each year smh
Yep can’t even respond to me when I called him out twice. Where has Gurvan Hall been all year? Well slurper, you just said back in September he’s had some good moments this year. Lol foolish.
