Y’all talk about Cb play, safety play has been even worse

Not surprised I was never hyping Banda like most here were so 🤷‍♂️

People keep pointing to coaching when it comes to the bad safety play..but the stuff I am seeing from Hall and Bolden has nothing to do with coaching. Missed tackles? Bad angles? Timidness? How is that a coaches fault? Only thing Banda can do is take them out the game but then you put a TF in the middle of the fire? (Balom/Harrell)

You can say what you want about Banda..but two things are facts..He is an elite recruiter at his position. And whatever is going on with Gurvan Hall is something that cant be coached up. Hall has been mentally out of it the entire season let alone not being up the standards physically.

Someone made a great point about Bolden early in the thread. Buddy has never played a full season at the college level so maybe he is hitting the wall? If that is indeed the case then he has no choice but the come back. The NFL is a 16 game season plus preseason ball..being physically and mentally worn out after 7 games wont fly at the next level.

LB and Safety play (across the board) has been way worse than CB play.

Banda is a mediocre Safety coach. All three players line up on the wrong hash, aren’t comfortable closing inside out, miss way too many open field tackles, can’t find the TE to save their lives, and all too often can’t dissect their keys for ****. When all three starting safeties take horrible angles in pursuit of the ball I have to take a look at their coach. We aren’t even close to being fundamentally sound back there.

Miami has always been able to recruit safeties. We don’t need Banda to recruit safeties. We need a real safety coach to develop our future talent. The position will recruit itself once we do that.

Two observations regarding Baker's "scheme", and I use that term loosely.

1. The more aggressive he gets at the line of scrimmage in terms of blitzing, the more conservative he gets on the back end. Almost every time we blitz we're in a cover 3 shell playing off coverage. A good team with a good passing attack will rip this to shreds.

2. For the life of me I don't understand why he doesn't mix in more man under 2 deep looks. We ran it on the final drive and you could see the difference. The one thing Blades and Ivey seem to do well is press man coverage. They suck with the ball in the air but they do a decent job of staying with their men.

#2 above is kinda the same gripe I have with Lashlee. It just feels this coaching staff doesn't do a good job of taking inventory of what WE DO have, and building a scheme around our strengths.

I'm going to keep saying this.....on offense we should be running a two tight end ACE offense ALL GAME LONG. I cannot understand how they can justify taking one or either of Brevin or Mallory off the field AT ANY MOMENT. Those two should be in the game TOGETHER all game long. Newsflash, it will also help the run game since they each block better than an additional receiver would.

On defense, we should be playing a **** of a lot more press man.

It's mind boggling this coaching staff can't recognize this. A big part of being a good coach is the ability to self evaluate.
agree on the defensive points, we look absolutely lost on zone coverage, and seems we have multiple bust when we are in zones : agree also on more 2 TE looks : also why do we insist on running these bubble screens to Pope, who is basically looks so weak running with the ball, at least run it with Payton, or Jordan :

Banda is doing what he is told to do by Manny/Baker, just like how the corners aren’t put in position to succeed because of the role Manny wants them to have.

Put recruiting aside for a sec, this defense will always have safeties in the wrong alignment and corners not put in positions that match their skill set.

The scheme is flawed, Manny just covers it up better than Blake because he has a better feel for play calling.

Lining up on the wrong hash is different than not knowing your keys, not being a good tackler, consistently taking bad angles, and rarely ever being around to make a play on the football. The system is trash. But the safety position isn’t well coached within the system.

There are..... decades of football history where position groups were forced to play with in a certain system and the system sucked, but that particular position group was extremely well coached and still excelled.

We don’t do one thing exceptionally well at safety. That’s a bad sign.

You were the one who said Hall has had his moments this year back in September. Please pick one.
He did mf,when he made a couple good tackles early in the season. That was **** near 5,6,7 games ago. You thought you did something with that bullsh*t comment

Yep can’t even respond to me when I called him out twice. Where has Gurvan Hall been all year? Well slurper, you just said back in September he’s had some good moments this year. Lol foolish.
I didnt See your sh*tty comment because I dont Bother to post or check on the board like that anymore, I’m living rent free in your head apparently . Grow up

Hes trying to cover for his boyfriend as usual. This is what he does. Tries to deflect the failure at corner and picks another position each year smh
You have a mental illness at this point, get banda d*ck out your mouth. I’ve been critical of the corners this year too especially blades the last couple of games. Just calling it how I see It, safety play has been worse and that’s facts

Ummmmm...Ever heard of some 5* kid we got onboard named James Williams?
I see him as a striker or Defensive End at the college level! I’m talking about like a Eddie Jackson, Will hill, Rayshawn Jenkins Shedrick redwine type saftey! Who has the speed to cover the whole feed and make up ground from sideline to sideline

Pick one dude. Keep slurpin Hall or don’t. Can’t pick both....you were called out for those two comments you made about Hall and it bit you in the ***. Now you act all hard trying to cover up for your idiotic comments. I think you need to grow up, not me.

HUH?? LOL. Have you seen this kid play safety this season?? Make your way over to the recruiting board on Friday nights for the HS updates, sir. You will change your tune.

We didnt have these safety issues with Redwine and Jaquan. So did Banda just all of a sudden forget how to coach angles, tackling and assignments?

You bring up good points. Its not Banda. Its Hall and to a lesser extent Bolden. He didnt all of a sudden forget how to coach safeties when Hall and Bolden came along and lets remember...Bolden was playing like an All American the first 3-4 games of the season so did Banda just stop coaching him the last 3 games and take a vacation?

No matter what happened, it’s inexcusable to have the talent we do back there and be this underwhelming.

There are no playmakers in the safety room this year, Bolden is lost and Carter/Hall are just bad at this point, We see opposing players get halfway to the first down marker and we know it will be a 1st down because our safetys can't come down and make a tackle or when they manage to hold on they get dragged 3+ yards.
Banda better hope Balom, Bolden and Harrell step the fvck up next season and both freshmens are the real deal, because he may lose his elite recruiter status if all his recruits keep failing on the field

Where’s gurvan been all year? Bubba bolden play has been declining significantly the last 3 games and Carter is Carter, not good which is even crazy because he’s been the best safety in each of the last 2 games.

another good cb is emerging in tecory couch. Ivey has improved his play this year overall even with his couple of lack of focus plays. I will Say blades play has declined the last few games though
I like coach banda, but we definitely brought this up, some weeks ago which is why I said before last game both safeties need to be benched. But the real Truth is, it's not banda, it goes back to blake baker, in the 3 years before he got here, safety play and cb play has not been an issue, the problem is you a cb's coach in rumph and a safety coach, banda who are teaching their units to be aggressive and play a certain way but come game time we got a d-co who keeps calling to many zone and soft man coverages. It seems like blake baker doesn't understand you he aggressive even in zone coverages.

Coach baker seems to not understand how to coordinate the units properly and is consistently under utilizing the strengths of the defensive players at his disposal. You not gone make to many plays running zone coverages. All this "eye discipline" talk is bullshat. The only 2 ****'s that need "eye discipline" is blake baker, we gone need him to use his eyes to see that the bullshat he keeps calling is not working and coach diaz, gone need him to see that his boy is not the answer!
