WR Trevill Holcy

can anyone tell me the difference between

halfback
TE
and h-back?
H-back sets up like a TE but from the set position. Think blocking/pulling lineman in passing downs and running plays and receiver after shedding first block/TE on 2/3 wr sets. They can also go in motion and play the traditional wr or the role. Its a great thing to say, but rarely executed properly. Honestly, I think they don't know what he projects to be and will look to take a big, fast ath with hands thats not afraid to block and see where he belongs after a red shirt. He could be an OL? think butch recruit my2

Always happy with a verbal from a kid that wants to be a Cane, so welcome my man. There was a buzz on this kid early on last year IIRC and then it died off and Ridley, SBB, J.Durante, D.Peete and FSU's kid from Central became the targets @WR, thought maybe we pulled his scholly because one of the aforementioned names but I guess not. Either way you cant teach size and with a RS year in our S&C program kid will have plenty of it come next Fall.

I'm happy for this kid but I'm not impressed. Same way I wasn't impressed with Njoku and Spence.

I hope these kids shut me up and shove crow down my throat.

Njoku, Herndon and now this cat.

How many does one roster need?

I thought Herndon was the best player on that Georgia team that played BTW. It was not that 5-star DE who did nothing. Herndon is talented.

Just plain stupid to say that this kid and Njoku are similar. Njoku is an elite HS high jumper with under 4.5 speed. He can be a true WR.

I still don't understand the message board obsession with Njoku at TE, just because he's a big kid. I suspect that this kid will be a possession WR at most and more likely will end up a hybrid or H-back given his current lack of elite speed. And like somebody else said, I'm not sure what 40 times really mean, especially in HS. I don't know that much about 40 times, but a number of people have posted over the years that one has to learn how to run the 40. Who knows, he might get down to 4.6 with better technique and training. Heck, we had WR's who could do no better than 4.6. Mike Irvin was in that range, although I realize the game is getting faster.

It might be a head-scratcher, just like Emonee Spence. I have to defer to the coaches who I'm sure have thoroughly analyzed film and discussed the offers in depth. There have got to be a number of heads involved in these decisions, including Coley, Golden, Carroll, etc. I don't think they're just throwing out offers to anyone.

Of course, if we just defer to the coaches, and have no opinions, there is nothing really to discuss here. So, keep it up. I look at videos and sometimes kid jump out at me, sometimes they don't. Generally, highlights always look good. So, ultimately, I think the coaches know what they're doing. (Except maybe for D'Onofrio, since I know that everybody here knows more about defense than he does.)

I was impressed with Njoku; didn't look at anything with Spence. I admit, though, I don't know much. I'm not an expert like most on the board.

Njoku does not have legit 4.4 speed. Herndon is faster than Njoku. Njoku is a 4.6 guy

Very underwhelming to me.

We could've waited on this one.

Going up against small geeks in most of his tape, plods around the field, very slow. I don't see why we'd take him this early on.

The guy is 6' 5" tall.
Every db he goes against is going to look small. As for explosiveness, every one of his strides is like 2 for a normal sized person.

From his commitment photo, it also looks like he has huge hands. Might just be the perspective, but his hands look large.

Finally, we take him now because we offered and he accepted.

You haters seem to only look at stars, and forget that it doesn't matter how good a player plays or looks in high school.
What matters is how good they will be after 3 years developing in college.
You want players whose best potential lies down the road not players whose best occurred when they were seniors in high school.

Good get by the staff with a kid who had SEC offers, big potential, and lives in gator country.

Njoku doesn't have legit 4.4 speed?

Neither did 80-90% of the wr's, db's and running backs at this year's NFL combine or in the NFL today.

You guys forget that 4.4 speed is world class. Just because, seemingly ever high school player says they can run 4.4 or sub 4.4, doesn't mean they really do.
In fact, very few do, especially when you put them in cleats and pads.

I heard he picked miami because uf and fsu wasnt showing interest.

Even if that is true why does it matter? If Miami's staff wants him it shouldn't matter what UF and FSU's staff thinks.

Agree with you for once.
Plus, it's not like UF has a long and storied track record of recruiting and developing wide receivers.

And before you bring up Harvin, nobody could Fuuck that kid up. Harvin was and is just a special athlete/player.
