To me, Blake's comments are much closer to how he really feels than some smoke-screen. If he were trying to hide his actual feelings, he would say things more akin to "We'll examine everything after the season." Saying things like "rebuilding a program takes time" and that "Butch went through the same things" (regarding the banner and fan discontent) indicate that he is willing to give Golden more time and AUTONOMY to make (or not make) staff changes.

I will never agree with it, but it's looking more and more like the most likely scenario for next season is status quo, perhaps with minor position coaching changes. Unbelievable.

I actually took some of that as a positive for those of us wanting Golden gone. James isn't going to force Al to fire assistant coaches(as he shouldn't). That means that Al likely wouldn't be forced to scapegoat his buddy as a sacrificial lamb to buy himself another year. It's possible he might be evaluated and given his walking papers without that possibility.

I guess it could also mean that the entire coaching staff is coming back next year no matter what happens. I have no idea anymore. I'm not hopeful for anything positive happening to this program.

James is terrible, terrible.

He's not even worth the new dining room

You think Jeremy Foley is throwing Muschamp under the bus with the media. Up to this point Foley is all in. And nobody has more invested in Muschamp than Foley. And in my opinion Muschamp is a dead man walking especially after they lose to Georgia for the fourth year in a row.

Foley bleeds for that school. Our guy just bleeds during his time of the month.

Kind of reminds me of Stevie from Eastbound & Down

no head coach of repute would ever look our way if they knew that the athletic director would fire his assistants for performance on the field. it would be idiotic for james to be the one that fires d'onofrio.

I'm on the side that believes that we are better served to cut ties with Golden, but I just didn't see a "wow" in that article. When he mentioned not forcing the guy to fire the DC, I actually agree with him. You don't force your head coach to fire a ****ty DC, you fire your HCinstead because obviously he's a fool if he won't fire his ****ty DC.

The WOW is that James is NOT even saying publicly let's wait until the season is over. I have a WOW for you...Do you think the U would've gone to T-Town and lose by just 21 to Bama? Do you honestly think that we would've lost to LSU by just three points in Sun Lifeless Stadium? (A RESOUNDING NO!!) I know those answers and so does the 98% of all the other posters on this site. The WOW sir is that Florida is tired of not winning those games they know they should be winning, us on the other hand continue to be in our own way.

I still don't see the reason that the title of this thread is WOW. I didn't expect him to say anything different. If he doesn't make the necessary moves at the end of the season, then hopefully the new president fires his ***.

PLEASE O PLEASE LET ANOTHER SCHOOL MAKE AN OFFER TO HIRE AL GOLDEN!!!! We were so close to PSU taking the bait...hopefully a school like Kansas will make a pitch to Golden.

Btw, we never talk about how Golden's wife is taking all of this. She surely can't want her husband to continue to endure this. Golden says he don't hear us, but you better believe that his wife hears us and I'm sure behind closed doors she's urging him to leave at first chance. Golden has never heard this kind of scrutiny in his life...not at UVA, and certainly not at Temple.

This, all day long. She can't be happy with this pressure from the fans. It has to have taken some of the shine off of SoFL for her. I wouldn't doubt that she is in his ear about bolting at first chance.

Kansas is really nice this time of year. Not really, but Al should give it a try.

Plus her family is from Kansas. Most of her family is from there. A school like Kansas, who's priority is basketball, would fall in love with Golden. Just as long as he does some lip service and they play in a couple of mid-level bowls, they would be happy. He needs that type of environment.

GTFO....you realize that James was an assistant at Hecht before he left for the University of Maine, where he was the AD. This is his third time back to Miami. Kirby left; the Howdy Doody looking guy did a drive by. James will stay because he likes Miami.

Do you know how hard it is to get AD jobs? A friend of mine was the assistant AD at Georgia Tech in the late 1980s/early 1990s. He got out of the business because Homer Rice was too entrenched. He couldn't afford the work. Pay was abysmal. AD make money. Staff do not.

Not all AD's. Jeremy Foley currently and Barry Alvarez come to mind of AD's who basically said perform or GTFO!

Do you have a link to a Jeremy Foley quote that sounds anything like "perform or GTFO"? Thanks in advance.

Here's the last Foley quote to Mike Biachi on September 26th in the Orlando Sentinel:

"You never judge or evaluate a program based on one game or one season," Foley said. "That's just not how we do things here. We're going to evaluate where we're headed – where the players are, how is recruiting going, what type of staff we have — are we a better (program)? That's going to be plain for all of us to see, but it's also going to be played out over the course of 11 games and we'll see where we are when we get to the end of the season."

So we have people claiming that Foley is a shark who doesn't put up with any sht, but he says the exact same thing as Blake James.

yet, I bet you that Foley WILL make the move whereas James will do absolutely nothing. Just watch it play out.

I would expect the Big Gators will apply pressure. They usually do. What Miami needs are more Ben Hill Griffin types. Unfortunately, they don't have them.
