It’s all moot now, but disagree. For a program that hasn’t won 11 games since 50 cent dropped his 1st album, has won 1 bowl game since I graduated HS and has a notorious stench for ****ting the bed late and flopping come bowl season, it would have been nice to flip that narrative on his heads against a quality ranked opponent.

Would our commit list be any different? No. Would we have added anyone different in the portal windows and would our o/u odds for 2025 be any different? Probably not. But I want to win every single game we play in and winning 11 games, even with a bowl win, sounds a helluva lot better than having a spiraling finish in typical UM fashion and losing our last 2 games 🤷🏾‍♂️.
Those are all valid points. All.

"We" did this back in December and it was certainly more heated. I see it now more as focus on the word "meaningless" more than anything else. I've used the M word to mean specifically what you pointed out in your second paragraph. Perhaps irrelevant or inconsequential would be a more universally accepted word to describe the PóópTarts Bowl.

No game is meaningless to me, I want to win them all, and I travel to them all

If you’re on scholarship and getting NIL, you’re getting compensated to do your **** job
Yeah in all seriousness we’ve done this exercise enough. I get that the word “meaningless” is sometimes semantics even though it’s a pretty cut and dry word

All I know is recruits were clowning us for losing a bowl game that was being clowned by most of the country

if you’re gonna punch podiums and talk about “trajectory” and then lose 3 of your last 4

Well I would say yes there’s some meaning in there somewhere

Definitely agree with this. Obviously I want to win every game, too. 11-2 sounds a lot cooler than 10-3. But just, in the grand scheme, it doesn’t mean anything. Winning the Syracuse game matters. It changes the trajectory of the program. Winning or losing to Iowa State doesn’t.

Honestly, most of my apathy to the game in general might stem from never winning them anyway. All I know is I watched less of that bowl game than any game in the last several years. It clearly didn’t matter to the program, either, as they used it for an Emory audition and a record breaker for Cam.

I guess it’s just one of those, it’d be cool to win 11 and win a bowl game, but it genuinely doesn’t matter. The previous 12 dictate how the future goes, that one doesn’t at all. But yeah, god forbid we actually do win one.

If we won, the story would be in a different book.
