If Zion is ready to go this week and gets the start, I anticipate we'll see him out there for ~30-40 snaps. Would be great to have Zion, prior to the TAMU game, shake off some of the rust. If that's the case, what does CIS say about who'll be in the lineup?

Only a few comments (that I've heard) have been made by the coaches. Some of those comments were Mario's high praise and expectations about John Campbell.

We've also seen PFF (for whatever you might think of them) rate Scaife as our "best" Olineman during week 1.

One possible lineup combination:

LT Zion Nelson
LG Jalen Rivers/Campbell
C Clark (if ready to go)
RG Scaife/Campbell/Rivers
RT Scaife/Campbell

Lots of interesting combinations. Does Scaife stick at RT? Does Jalen Rivers go to RG and Campbell to LG? Does Logan, who was injured, slide into a Guard position? Does Anez Cooper just bench everyone and play RG and RT at the same time? I don't know, but seems like a fun convo. In the end, the good thing is we can fully trust Mirabal and Mario. So we've got that going for us.

I like Campbell and wouldn't have any issues with them deciding to roll with him until Zion is 100%, even if that's after A&M.

BUT.. CBS released a mock draft today that had Zion going 5th overall. I don't put much stock in the mock draft, but it does stand out as another example of Zion's talent and high expectations. So if he's ready to play, he needs to play.

Seems like we've tried the Scaife at RG experiment multiple times now and his best position is RT.

I'd prefer to go with Zion/Campbell at LT and Scaife/ Campbell or Cooper at RT, until after A&M.

My question is at backup C if something happens to Clark. Yeah we have guys who can play the position. But I don't wanna see any fumbles/bad snaps due to unfamiliarity. Didn't the turnover near the goal line happen when Denis come in to replace Clark?

Yes, Denis was in. I chalked that up to being under center more than anything, but Denis was at C.

It was Denis and Mario said part of the issue was he is left handed. What a difference this year compared to previous years.

I think Scaife is held in very high regard by Mirabal and Mario. I'd be very surprised if he's not the RT.

So with that being said, assuming Zion is a go, he's the starting LT, Clark is obviously the starting Center, and Scaife is at RT.

Rivers will obviously have a guard spot, I believe it will be left guard to pair with Zion and make that a very formidable side of the line. So here is my prediction for the first drive of the game

LT - Nelson
LG - Rivers
C - Clark
RG - Campbell
RT - Scaife

This is what I think it will be as well.

They love Campbell so he will play wherever. I rotate him and Zion this weekend and then see how Campbell does at G. He and Justice might be rotating unless Scaife looks like ****.

I’d guess our 2nd team eventually will be:

Cooper and McCoy at T
Denis at C
Justice and Logan at G

@LuCane

One thing that continues to stand out to me from last weeks game (yes yes Bethune Bethune) was part of this question

The OL played really well and kept the cohesiveness despite it being a blowout and bodies rotating in and out (Clark getting hurt and then just from getting the backups in)

Pretty crazy to see them not have any issues despite this

That’s coaching

I would like to see:

Zion
Rivers
Clark
Scaife
Campbell

Or perhaps Campbell and Rivers switch

Most people have mentioned we want more size on the OL, so that'd tell me we place Campbell inside and leave Scaife outside. But, if you trusted Campbell with LT, perhaps RT, too? Seems like it may come down to what Mirabal and Mario think of what produces more value: Campbell G with Scaife T vs Campbell T with Scaife inside. Cool little puzzle for Mirabal.
