I feel the same waySome really nice depth here but no thanks using scaife at RT against teams like ATM. I’d feel much more comfortable having JC ar RT. Jmo
Mario pretty much admitted as such and took the blame for it.That's the first time I heard we subbed in a lefty and called a play under center. Lots of factors there, but seems kinda dumb. Shotgun a better choice---and yes, I have benefit of hindsight.
DJ’s problems were at guard. Her’s always been pretty good playing RT.I think Scaife is held in very high regard by Mirabal and Mario. I'd be very surprised if he's not the RT.
So with that being said, assuming Zion is a go, he's the starting LT, Clark is obviously the starting Center, and Scaife is at RT.
Rivers will obviously have a guard spot, I believe it will be left guard to pair with Zion and make that a very formidable side of the line. So here is my prediction for the first drive of the game
LT - Nelson
LG - Rivers
C - Clark
RG - Campbell
RT - Scaife
Who played RG vs BCC? Oluwaseun? Shouldn't he get some consideration? If Zion plays....If Zion is ready to go this week and gets the start, I anticipate we'll see him out there for ~30-40 snaps. Would be great to have Zion, prior to the TAMU game, shake off some of the rust. If that's the case, what does CIS say about who'll be in the lineup?
Only a few comments (that I've heard) have been made by the coaches. Some of those comments were Mario's high praise and expectations about John Campbell.
We've also seen PFF (for whatever you might think of them) rate Scaife as our "best" Olineman during week 1.
One possible lineup combination:
LT Zion Nelson
LG Jalen Rivers/Campbell
C Clark (if ready to go)
RG Scaife/Campbell/Rivers
RT Scaife/Campbell
Lots of interesting combinations. Does Scaife stick at RT? Does Jalen Rivers go to RG and Campbell to LG? Does Logan, who was injured, slide into a Guard position? Does Anez Cooper just bench everyone and play RG and RT at the same time? I don't know, but seems like a fun convo. In the end, the good thing is we can fully trust Mirabal and Mario. So we've got that going for us.
@DMoney What do you think about Anez Cooper getting more PT this week? Could we have a young superstar on our hands? I think we should try him at RT and see how he holds up against P5 comp.I like Campbell at RT and Scaife at RG. The only concern would be moving Campbell around just as he’s finding his footing.
Good question. I think those kids will get the best coaching and get their opportunities but ultimately I think they remain backups or transfer because we are going to keep adding elite talent to this OL and I don't think they will be able to keep up. You can add Rodriguez to that list as well.Honest question - that class from a couple years back has Seymour, McLaughlin and Washington and really none of those guys have cracked the 2 deep or even close. I know OL take time developing but you’d think you’d see their names on the 2 deep…
Scaife isn't going to lose a starting job after grading out the highest.I got Anez Cooper starting bc he’s a beast…
LT-Zion
LG-Rivers
C-Clark
RG-Anez
RT-Campbell

Seems like yesterday Zion was starting as a Freshman in the Swamp. Absolute disaster. Penalty after penalty offsides then holding. I remember thinking the Gayturds suck but we suck more. No depth suck. Of course we lost. To see this post that we have “interesting combinations“ tells me we might actually have depth. Thank the Good Lord. Two decades of suffering is enough. If Zion is ready to go this week and gets the start, I anticipate we'll see him out there for ~30-40 snaps. Come on now @KrazyCane . That’s just ridiculous talk nowI need to see how much power Zion has in his game... he might be the 3rd best olineman on the team now.
was scrolling waiting for this comment. or i was gonna make itCome on now @KrazyCane . That’s just ridiculous talk now
This. Y’all moving this guy around and even throwing him on the bench for a freshman after grading the highest of the line in a real game, and receiving praise constantly from Mario and his little minion. Y’all on some stuff. If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it.Scaife isn't going to lose a starting job after grading out the highest.
