With Hester, Sandland, Olsen how many total ships for 15?

How does EE work...if a student from 2016 come in early does that count go against 2015 or 2016...and if 2015 is maxed does that eliminate EEs for 2016?

A student who enrolls in January of 2016 is eligible to be included in the class of 2015 if that class was below 25, otherwise he will count toward the class of 2016.

You can only count EEs towards the previous class if that class was below the max (25). So if your class was full the previous season, none of your EE can be assigned to the previous class.

That's why it was easy to predict a class of 29 this year. Exactly the number we enrolled. If we get lucky Kiy Hester won't count and we can count one 2015 EE towards the 2014 class, giving us a max of 26.

I was called an idiot for saying this last season (that the class would be 29 max) and was right. So before any of you go ahead and do the Same here, this one is getting bookmarked again.

It's definitely confusing, and maybe we are both wrong, but this post is in line with what I think is true. Good stuff.

Idiot. I think you are correct, but I can't help myself when I'm invited to name-call.

The important thing is, Shaq can enroll early regardless of the class he is counted toward, if that was of concern. (I think).

sigh...

we still cannot sign more than 25(possibly 26, depending on whether or not Hester transferred before or after classes started...basically, whether or not he counts as an initial counter). we could then count an EE for the 2015 class towards the 2014 class, allowing us to sign 26

Why not? You are allowed to actually sign 28 obviously not including any EEs, and have to have it figured out by May 31st I believe. Some of those can Grey Shirt. Not saying it is the way to go but it is an option. Also we signed 27 last year total, 6 were EEs that I believe counted towards the year before that.

you can only sign 25, not counting EE's...

15.5.1.9.1 Limitation on Number of National Letter of Intent/Offer of Financial Aid Signings—

and last year, we signed 29 total(25 for 2014 + 4 EE's that counted towards 2013)

As I stated in another post in this thread, you can sign 28 not including EEs, but can only enroll 25, and must have it figured out by the end of May, I believe that is the date. This rule allows for the school some flexibility with non qualifiers. Also this is something Im not sure but I though 6 of our EEs counted towards the 2013 class as we only signed 19 that year. I may be wrong on that part, but you can in fact sign 28, but only enroll 25, as I already stated.

im not sure where that wiki sources from for the 28, but the above rule stating 25 is taken directly from the NCAA 2014-2015 manual. it USED to be 28 a few years ago, but as you can see, this rule was revised 8/1/12.

and, yes, you are mistaken. we had 21 recruits count towards the 2013 class. which allowed for only 4 of our EE's from the 2014 class to count towards the 2013 class, even though we had more than 4 EE's in 2014.

we(and every other school) can only sign 25 in february. this does not include EE's. however, we are limited to only being able to enroll 25 in the fall because none of our EE's can count towards the 2014 class, as it was maxed out at 25(29 minus the 4 EE's).

2013 Signing Class
1. QB Kevin Olsen (1)
2. RB Augustus Edwards (2)
3. RB Walter Tucker (3)

5. TE Beau Sandland (5)
6. TE Standish Dobard (6)
7. OL Hunter Knighton (7)

18. DB Ray Lewis (18)
19. DB Cornelius Elder (19)
20. DB Jamal Carter (20)
21. KP Pat O'Donnell (21)

EDIT: the source for that wikipedia article is the 2011-12 NCAA Division I Manual. which would explain the confusion with the 28 vs 25 number.

Derek, some bonehead is gonna come in and say something about "attrition to the roster" changing that number. As sure as the sun will rise this fallacy keeps getting repeated.

lol, oh i know. and it may not be in this thread, but it'll surely happen in another. we just gotta keep fighting the good fight against misinformation & hope that reality will eventually bear witness to the truth.
