Willie Williams Resurrected

Nah. If I'm being honest James is crazy athletic but he's nowhere near defined or even came into a peak as far as what he'll be on the field. We don't even know what position he'll end up at when he does grow into his body. If you'd see James up close, no pads, etc one thing that is Crystal clear is he is NOWHERE NEAR being physically developed to the extent he will be. Kids got tons of room for growth. 2 years in a real s & c program and with a proper nutrition program and he's going to be huge. Will he maintain the fluidity necessary to play safety at a high level once he reaches that point? Personally I strongly doubt it and even if he did we would be doing him a disservice by not switching him to end or even possibly lb. But my main reason I don't feel he's even close is because of the dominance of Willie from day 1. Onions issue with Willie was never football related at it's root. Onions real issue was Willie didn't need him and his coaching. Willie from day 1 dominated on the practice field and showed out on game day. But everything he did was because he was such a superior football player. Kid could pick apart a play off rip but it was all instinctual for him. He didn't know the how or the why. He just knew this is where the ball was headed and he wanted to be there. Onion wanted him simply sticking to his zone and nothing else. Nothing wrong with the fact you have a zone to cover. As a coach that is your priority. But when a kid shows you he's got that covered than he reads the play and moves on to the ball and contributes you don't suppress that. You simply refine it. Onion is the black Mandy where he's got to be the smartest guy.

This is 100% true.

Because it wasnt just a Willie thing he did it with multiple backers.

Its the same thing you guys complain about with Manny where the elder player was getting run...its what he did. Maybe they could draw it up on the board or in the film room say whats SUPPOSED to happen...but legitimately there was no reason for Willie and my other homie not to be on the field at the same time. Beason and Willie.....

*Cant wait to see the youngings on the field like Chase Smith and James

I 100 agree with you as well on James. When you see him hes gangly in person, he has ton of weight gain...he use to be so mad when i used to say your a DE. lol. But just let him play he is doing nice things for us already as a freshman. 1 of Manny's true recruiting wins lmaooo (though kid was a born cane)

I get that people are obviously entitled to their own takes. As someone that's known Willie since high school I'd strongly disagree with the take. However I respect it all the same. Life requires context. Is he a hustler, yes absolutely. But being a hustler doesn't mean you haven't accepted your circumstances or made peace with your demons. It simply means they're trying to live their best life's the one and only way they know how... Unfortunately in most people's eyes we are nothing but what we know. I just happen to disagree.

I can’t argue with first hand testimonials. Again I am super happy he’s found something he can be passionate about and proud of.

There was a package out there last Saturday - Williams rushing the passer, Kinchens, AWilliams in CF, JHH upfield, and a few others. I can only imagine what our next DC will do with that collection. Weird to me those guys aren't prepared enough to make more plays. Certainly, I'd hope they start getting our Safeties to play a little lower and clean up their steps. Dudes are just kinda standing around waiting for the next thing to happen. But, the reaction times are on another level. And, JWilliams should rush the passer on 98% of 3rd downs. I don't care from where you bring him. He's a natural doing it.

I love these types of threads.

I remember when reading his recruiting diary or whatever it was back then, and laughing so hard at some of the stuff he said. He definitely sounded like a guy with a ton of personality and an engaging dude.

LOL, that diary made Navarro a made man.

Sorry, but Darrin Smith does NOT belong in that conversation if we're talking HS athletes. He transformed himself after he got to college.
I never said straight out of high school.

I said “defensive players out of the state of Florida.”

He was Flowe before Flowe was out of diapers.

Those two are the best two LB'ing prospects I've seen since I've been around. Both absolute animals on the field and literally scared the crap out of offensive players.

FSU had one that was unreal in high school as well, serious head hunter. I just can't nail down which backer it was. Brought the boom on every tackle.
The other dude I would include would be Ruben Foster. Dude’s high-school tape was filthy. He was murking guys, and had great size, speed, agility and hit like a train.

Fred Taylor was a more dominant player in high school. Old school, Ant Carter from Suncoast was the most electric WR — awesome basketball player, too. Both PBC, not M-DC, obviously.
A guy that is never mentioned here, but was also a very talented back was Mitch Green. Dude was a **** of a high school back on a ***** Miami Springs team. Kid balled out in Minnesota for the Gophers.

If Willie Williams was the THIRD highest rated recruit to sign with Miami who the heck were rated 1 and 2?

Freddie Miles, … ?

Randy didnt want Willie in the first place. Coker overruled him, even more so after the arrest history came out. This guy ran off Willie Williams, Arthur Brown, and wouldn't let Hester play DB. And we promoted him to HC (I realize he was HC when Brown came).

On 247 it's DJ Williams, Seantrel Henderson, Willie Williams.

Should have been an NFL all pro. What talent, I can’t believe he didn’t figure it out. Oklahoma drills with Willie Williams and James Bryant. 🧨
