i hope they dynamite Stone Mountain next
I'm torn on this one. I don't want history buried and forgotten. Whitewashing the past doesn't purify it. At the same time, certain monuments shouldn't have been in the first place.

My link? You mean the official State of Florida web site? It isn't more credible than a guy who wrote a book? I'd be willing to bet I can find some crazy sht written by a historian, will you defend that as vociferously or just the ones that agree with you?Nope closet winger = closet winger.
the link you cite is no more “accurate“.
You can swallow a shotgun. That wasn't a joke. I want you to put a shotgun inside your mouth and then pull the trigger.i hope they dynamite Stone Mountain next
I hear you.
I agree that some should've never been erected. Then again, how do you choose? If we went by what any southerner stood for, nothing would be left.
It was a different time, but history is a story. Sometimes it's terrible, tragic, and other times uplifting as well as beautiful. It's a roadmap for opinions, explains diversity, unity, gives color, clarity, and inspires thought and change.
You see some things, think wow, it's really changed around here. It isn't always positive change, but it's change regardless.
Are southern battlefields next? We going to close those down as well? I just ask when is it enough?
Not reflexively at all. If you want to take down every Confederate flag and monument, be my guest.I actually agree with you and only provided a different opinion (of a historian) - without commenting. Our brother JD always reflexively defends these types of “lost causes”.
I second this qoute...You can swallow a shotgun. That wasn't a joke. I want you to put a shotgun inside your mouth and then pull the trigger.

They’re equal to me. However, since the Florida website also serves as a political document (yup, Republican Governors for the last decade…), and the flag has been a political hot potato that EVERY southern state plays footsie with…I don’t have to assume that it’s canon. My link? They must have been the worst racists in history because they left a Native American on the flag and it's a woman to boot.
Ask the Indians.
