Wilder is bigger than we thought

Special teams bonus. Keep our starters off KO duties.

yep..

Wilder, Smith, Bandy, Thomas are going to light it up on specials imo/

Recall guys like Armstead on special teams as freshmen back in the day. Solid special teams coverage usually a measure for the quality of depth and future defensive performance of your team.

you know Vince wilfork didn't qualify out of hs and sat out his 1st semester and then proceeded to graduate in 3 years?

UM fan: "Hmmm...Wilder hasn't played yet, so I can't destroy him for that. I need to kill him though, so what can I do? Looks to be in great shape. Can't rip him for that. Hasn't been in trouble. Can't go there. Dammit, he's making it tough on me. Anyone heard him speak?"

kids grow, hopefully they take advantage of the education and the U provides the necessary help. Rick is big on this.

Classic 1k...

I was never worried about Wilder in terms of his weight and athleticism. I do think he's going to take time to adjust to being a true LB, not just a rushing specialist. Gotta use him on STs, so I agree he's not red-shirting. But he really needs a full four years here, and may have benefited from a shirt if we weren't below 70 quality guys on roster right now.

Wasn't he used as a linebacker more in his first couple of years at carol city and then moved to dends because of injuries of other players?

Yes

**** I legit feel bad for Wilder after seeing that interview. You mean he "qualified" for Miami huh? Seriously...poor kid. Great education system we have...beyond him being a Cane and balling out for the team, I hope he goes pro and is successful because he's just not an academic. We will leave it at that.

He actually received an athletic and academic offer in the 10th grade so let them talk

What a fvcktard you are...this isn't about "qualifying" for Miami, he qualified by NCAA rules, you moron. Let's not pretend that ANY school has higher or lower "qualifications" (in the Power 5, nobody is any better or worse).

As for whether Power 5 schools are willing to take a chance on a kid from a less academic background, that is up to each school, but Miami has a pretty incredible track record when it comes to getting kids to go to class, maintain an adequate GPA, and graduate from college

Sounds like he has really impressing in camp based on interviews form the coaches lately
