Why trouble lies ahead...

Its about wins, not yards, downs, points, rankings, penalties, plays, scheme. Except last year. last year wasn't about wins.

We were ranked #1 in Turnover Margin after the Florida 2013 game too. Guess how that season turned out for both teams. Oh wait. We all should know.

meh. FSU, Clemson, georgia tech all look vulnerable. I still don't think Al Golden is the answer, but I think we have a good chance of gene chiziking our way into a ACC championship.

With 3 to 4 losses in the Acc ?

Not all opponent turnovers are "created". When you're thriving on punt returners muffing punts and QBs throwing the ball directly to your DBs in lieu of wide open receivers, that sort of luck has a way of evening out over the course of a season.

Forcing turnovers is way different than reaping the benefit of unforced errors by your opponent.
Man its a part of football. See Ole Miss TD against Bama...Burns interception was lucky ? Bush interception was lucky ? stop trying to nitpick every single positive thing we have for negative sh*t. You dont have to complain about every little thing just because golden sucks

You're too simple to get it. I never said every turnover was unforced. I said many of them were including the throw to Burns. Burns made a nice catch, but it was thrown to him. Unforced turnover.

The Old **** TD was lucky. It happens. Teams get lucky. Luck tends to even out over the course of a season.

We had a bunch of giveaways in our favor up that point in the season too including a bunch by Florida. Then, it evened out as the season progressed.

When you rely on luck like Fat Al is, you'll get boned eventually.

This team has not traveled North of Boca for a game yet this year.

Very reminiscent of the 7-0 start in 2014 when we didn't leave the state of Florida for a game until after FSU.

Very pleasantly surprised that we are creating turnovers. I don't think anyone would have predicted that.

Defense still leaves a lot to be desired. Jekyll and Hyde right now. They looked lights out for 3.5 qtrs..then looked like trash for the last 8min..

I don't know if you can blame that all on the kids. The coaches have to take some responsibility for the complete breakdown.

the defense went to crap right when deon got booted, he is a huge part of our D that no one talks about he was all over the field yesterday, i blame the coaches for some of the coverages behind the blitzes, he had a good one on the 2 point conversion but the safeties got confused on who to cover, the play before it was cover one and carter drifted on the side where the blitz wasn't going on caused a open lane and he did flinch before making the play, i would have put him one on one with the free wide out

One of the main differences between this team and that team is we now have a real Qb who is getting better every week at reading coverages and leading this team down the field.

Morris was hot and cold each week (I know many will argue injuries). Not consistent at all or progressing.

Exactly. Turnovers are unpredictable from one game to the next. Relying on them to bail out a porous defense is a recipe for failure.

Nebraska was 1-1 when we beat them and the one previous loss was a "Hail Mary" last second loss to BYU. Try to be objective, it makes the rest of the story more viable.

we played 2 cupcakes and one unranked 1-2 school

here are some troubling stats and facts

First the good stuff ( turn over margin)

We number 1
sacks 13th,,,,most Fau/BCU

the ugly moving forward

we are 62 in the country giving up 3rd downs

90th in allowed 4th down conversions

70th giving up long plays

long rushing plays allowed 90th in the country

long passing plays allowed 50th

opponents red zone conversion 90th in the country

Penalties 97th

We didn't start 7-0 in 2014. We lost on opening night to THE VILLE. We were 6-4 after FSU. No?

To be honest, I think this is the nature of college football in this era, IMO. Everybody is going to score points. Bama just gave up 43 at home to Ole Miss. FSU gave up 59 to Oregon in the semi-final. Defenses can only do so much. It's imperative that your offense keep on scoring and not give the other team a shot at running it back. Didn't use to be this way 10-15 years ago, but things change.

I believe not finishing our own drives properly is more damaging than being unable to stop a comeback. It almost felt inevitable that our kids would let down a little bit having a big lead, everybody relaxed and the Huskers took advantage. But we had multiple opportunities to stick the dagger in Brasky and didn't do it. Too many field goals, and the red zone INT was a killer.

This all comes back to being very bad in short yardage situations and not having a true power back that can dig out those first and goal/third and short situations reliably. We have had this issue now for a few seasons; even when we had better players on the line we struggled to pick up a couple yards or punch it in against average competition or better.

Clipping along at 25% on third down, especially against such bad or mediocre teams, indicates a serious flaw in our playcalling, OL talent, RB talent, or a combination of all three. And I don't think this is something that's going away any time soon, instead it will just get worse against the better teams still ahead.

Its about cheesburgers, no points.

It was more nebraska finally started to hold on to the ball. In the first half, Nebraska couldn't catch a cold. They stopped their own drives.
