What I find hilarious is that he is actually fighting himself when he runs…LOL

The thing I’ve noticed is his running stride once he breaks into the open field. When he hits daylight, it doesn’t look like he has a true second gear. His stride mechanics are what’s slowing him down.

Keeping it simple. He has to much ground contact. Ideally you want to decrease your ground contact and increase your stride length.

To me it’s like he is shuffling his feet..lol. It’s weird because once he his (second gear) his stride decreases which slows him down

Needed to pick his knees up on the shoe string tackle. That should've never happened.... but he's 18 lol. That's why this idiot Omar Kelly is completely wrong when he says he doesn't see room for improvement with Malachi. I can see him getting even faster

By the way if you look at his fumble again that was extremely lucky by the defense. Malachi broke both tackles and was taking that to the crib. Defender blinded reached out ripped it out. A shame

Good post, too high level for most guys on here and think you dissing him instead of how he can get better.. This is basically track talk and thats hated on this board.. lol..

Whats crazy is his pops was a burner, a good track season would get him right

No clue what is trying to be said but Malachi is not slow and does not have too much ground cover. He is short and squatty. wait till this kid comes out of the lab from offseason S&C.

what are you talking about? that's just some weird ****.
I think he could be a true 4.3 guy. Watch a vid when he gets into the open field. The Texas A&M is a great one to watch.

He has the power and quick twitch to be that 4.3 guy but his stride mechanics appears the be the only issue.

I was wondering if he would work with a track or speed coach to teach him to open up his stride to get that “turn over” for true break away speed.

I’m not saying he’s slow at all and obviously he has good speed. But there’s a difference between short-burst speed and long-term speed, and that’s where turnover comes in.

Guys like Devin Hester aren’t just fast solely because of genetics. They have efficient stride mechanics that allow their turnover to increase once they’re upright and running, which is how they hit that second gear. His stride mechanics are not clean which is preventing him from having that next level speed like Santana Moss or Hester.

The good thing is that he has everything you need to be an elite fast guy. He’s got the burst, the quick-twitch, and the power. Mechanics are actually the easiest thing to fix. This is something that can absolutely be cleaned up in the offseason.

I see, lol

Yeah man he has all the tools to be an elite speed guy. He has the power and quick twitch. Only his mechanics is affecting his top end speed. One off season he can become a true monster.
