Why is Lawrence Cager a fan favorite?

Cage had a lights out Orange Bowl vs Wisky as he looked like a man possessed. However he has been way too inconsistent and he could have cost us the game tonite,

It’s ok to drop some passes but doing it with game on the line well different story...
Think you can do better especially catching one over the middle while you're hearing footsteps of someone coming to knock your head off.give the kid a break we wouldn't of won the coastal last year without him making some tough catches.

He has tons of potential, is kind of goofy looking, and smiles a lot. That's the mathematical formula for "#18 in your playbooks, #1 in your hearts!"
We don't get to see that star power and charisma on TV. Maybe they should start a publicity campaign kinds like they do for Miss America. He could do hardware store grand openings and 4th of July parades.

Want to know a hall of fame receiver who had a problem catching some passes his rookie season.Jerry rice had that problem in 1986 especially in the playoffs against the giants.like rice cager has something you can't teach or coach HEART.

You want to know who else has problems catching some passes. Little Bobby, and now he only gets to the play the line on his Pop Warner team....

Don't think cager will be playing on the line.in fact he might surprise you and have a good nfl career.

There needs to be accountability on that offense. After the third drop he should t have been on the field. Three strikes and your out. I bet you he would stop dropping the ball!

He scored Two Touchdowns and is a very good WR overall

Right. 2 TDs, 50% of what UM scored. Major contribution in an intense game.

As for JT, he is a battler. Could have called it a day after the face mask, but never quit and came back to make a couple gigantic catches.

He never catches with his hands, if the throw and it’s trajectory demands it (a hands catch) he’ll usually drop it. He always attempts to trap the ball between his hands and chest. He plays with a lot of nerves (insecure) so when he does well he goes nuts. I noticed he doesn’t allow most teammates to celebrate with him when he makes a play. Something weird about him.

Its because his hands are tiny. Not even for his size. They are small for a 5'11 guy. Maria Taylors hands dwarf his.

He has his ups and downs.

But I love the fact he keeps on getting up when he is down. That shows to me he is a fighter with no quit.
The one play that exemplifies this best is when he was isolated on the fade and did not make the catch but immediately got up and was like throw it up to me again, I will get it this time.

And he did.

He had one drop really.. the first was a good play by the DB.. randy moss would not have caught that, when the DB times it perfectly and bats it away. The second should have been caught. Loved that he called to run the facking play back on third one!! On fourth down at that!! Takes balls bruh!! True cane!!
This. The only drop that was really on him was the one that hit him in the gut near the goal line. The others were well-contested with the DB's hand knocking it down. Perry needs to learn to get that ball higher in the air for Cager. Use his height. A few times last week and this week Perry threw the ball low enough for the shorter defender to get his hand in there. 6 inches higher and only Cager would have had a shot at it.

He dropped the slant at the goal line on 3rd down and he would have scored. We missed the field goal on the next play. Could have cost the game had the D not been playing possessed in the 2nd half. Way too many drops.

Jeez, it’s like some of you guys have abused woman syndrome from the Golden years rationalizing poor performances. You think Cager would have been on the field after multiple drops playing for Saban or Dabo? And as far as letting a much smaller DB make a play on him this has been an ongoing issue that Duggans has been trying to address with him.

My question is where the **** has Hightower been this season. He looked like a monster in the Spring and it seems like he barely sees the field.

He's improving but still a work in progress. Cager should be dominating every game. He dropped a couple of TDs and caught a couple of TDs. He's got to get more consistent wit his hands, His route running in nice with very deceptive speed and atheleticism. Overall, he had a decent not great game because of the drops. Kid has to remember every drop loses him money. His size and speed will get him a look at the next level.

The advantage of being a tall receiver is to be able to make plays above the shorter defender. The QB needs to get the ball up where a taller receiver has that advantage. Perry is still learning. Is Cager perfect? No, not at all.

What ? you would be hard-pressed to find any footage on Randy Moss dropping the ball that he was able to grip with his hands. Cager caught the ball and let the DB knock it out of his hands. Inexcusable and soft. Any Scout watching the game wouldn't draft cager at all.

Cager had an awful game yesterday. Dropped at least two touchdown passes, including what should have been the dagger. He's not a strong receiver in traffic, and that's a problem when your entire reason for being is your size. You can't be a big receiver that struggles to make catches in traffic. Cager isn't going to get away from many defenders, he has to be able to secure catches with people around.

The jugs machine should be his buddy for a very long time, especially if he wants to have a future in the game.
