Why is Dorsey's name being pushed for HC?

Why am I first hearing of topics with thread titles saying why am I hearing of thread topics?

That's exactly the kind of stupid move Miami would make, face it, none of us would be surprised if we hired him.

Throw his name around all you want. I'd love him as an OC here.

But his boss, Brian Daboll, is a hot name for an NFL head coaching gig next year. When that happens, he's pulling Dorsey with him wherever he goes or the Bills will promote him to call plays.

He's literally outside the NFL OC store, waiting for it to open for business.

He's not coming here.

You realize he's never been an OC right? Why should we be the guinea pigs?' I'd take him as QB coach, but that's pretty much it.

Also, I love Ken Dorsey, but does he even give a **** about The U? In the 20 years he's been gone, how many times has he even been to the U? I don't even think he came to the 20 year reunion last month (please correct me if I am wrong). And let's not forget that he was working at FIU at some point, so he could've easily came over to at least talk to the guys.

There can't be ANY truth to these Dorsey as HC rumors. People's heads would EXPLODE if Dorsey got a shot at HC. Every time there's a coaching search of any kind all kinds of BS names are thrown around. This is to prime the fan base for a potentially ***** hire. They're going to swing for the fence with Mario, Lane, etc., but if they strike out, they will hire another Al Golden type and the people will be happy that at least they didn't go with the candidate who arguably doesn't give a **** about The U and who hasn't ever earned a shot as OC by any professional or collegiate organization.

Dorsey is going to be an OC in the NFL next season.

Pretty sure being the next HC at UM is not on his radar.

Of course, being a great player at UM, a longtime QB coach in the NFL, and a someone who has earned a lot of respect in the coaching community pales in comparison to the coaching credentials of those CIS posters that not only cut their teeth on some public high school field in bumfu*k parts of Broward county, but also knew a few players they met at a 7-Eleven a few summers back.

I mean it's not entirely impossible. Leftwich was only a QB coach for two years before becoming TBs full time offensive coordinator.

I'd be willing to bet Dorsey is a smarter dude and he's actually cut his teeth longer. He's been an NFL QB coach for seven years. Turned Cam into an MVP and completely refined Josh Allen. He was promoted to the Bills pass game coordinator this off-season. So yeah, it looks to me like he's actually making upward progression.

Or we can not be guinea pigs and just hire proven college play-callers like Mark Whipple and Rhett Lashlee.

Yeah, maybe he doesn't like the U. You still can't deny that Dorsey is one of the top offensive minds to step foot on campus in the last 22 years

Miami missed on chance to bring Dorsey into the the program 4-5 years ago. Since then, he landed in the NFL and his career path has changed. Highly unlikely he ever resurfaces on the staff.

Just because it's possible doesn't make it a good idea. I mean, you can jump out of a plane without a parachute, and not die. It's been done before (like over a forest or in deep snow). Doesn't make it a good idea.

Leftwich is a bad example. He's got Brady and Brady's all star vet squad. I could probably coach that offense and at least get to the playoffs. Everyone thought Bellichick was some offensive genius until Brady left.

What's so bad about a proven OC? Jedd Fisch was good. Whipple has had his good moments. Lashlee isn't a bad OC, per se, he just needs a dramatic overhaul of his run philosophy, especially in short yardage situations.

Nothing against Ken. Love the guy. One of my all time favorite Canes. Great QB coach, for even longer than 7 years (even when he was technically still a player, he was getting contracts to work with young QBs, such as Brady Quinn). I would just prefer it if we got someone who's already cut their teeth. We've getting dict around for 20 years. We deserve better.

GO CANES!!!

Next logical step is OC... no?
Would be a great OC/QB coach hire IMO. Look how good he made Cam Newton look and how bad Cam has been since he left. Also, look at what he's done with Josh Allen the last couple seasons. Dorsey was always so smart.
