Why hasn't Martinez declared? [Martinez Has Declared for NFL Draft]

Martinez improved his production after:

(i) he lost some weight and

(ii) he adjusted to his new teammates & blocking schemes.

He would have had more yards & more explosive plays if he’d come in to Miami in top shape. He was given many advantages at Miami between a very good OL to run behind and having a QB that was clearly a threat to throw the ball effectively at any time (so teams could not key primarily on stopping the run game).

I think he could do well in the NFL. He just needs a shot with the right team.

Think Martinez was misused here…..or underused. Should have been a 1300-1500 yard guy. I think if he hits those numbers he goes around the 3rd round.
Hard to argue that they featured the #1 overall pick.. plus took him some time to adjust to the up the middle run game..

What I mean is they know more about injuries, attitude, behind the scenes stuff than we do. That impacts where they’re drafted not necessarily their success as a pro.
Ah gotcha that part is fair. Could be some issue we don’t know about

More than likely they’re just doing that thing where scouts and whatnot try to be cute and justify their jobs by finding diamonds in the rough rather than just good football players that produce

Dolphins just drafted Ollie Gordon, who I don’t think I’ve ever seen go 3 straight carries without limping off. How is Martinez still on the board man
In his defense, he is a former Doak Walker winner. Definitely with a 6th round pick. Would have been much higher if not injured.

I havent followed this one much, so I dont know how his combine and/or pro day workouts went but...

I will say that Damian Martinez displayed significantly below average hands this season. He had a number of really bad drops or very catchable balls. In today's NFL game, I have to wonder if that is an issue.

Gotta be his hand and pass pro. Those were the two knocks that eye confident in draft reports. Someone is getting a steal in the 7th or FA.

Really? I’m not saying you are wrong, but I don’t remember him having many bad drops. I remember one bad drop earlier in the season, can’t remember the game. He had no fumbles all season. I thought he was excellent as a receiver out of the backfield.

Can you remember specifics?

I do not remember him having the drops. If anything he was a pretty fluid receiver from what I remember
