Why can’t we win the Acc?

There’s no reason with this staff that we can’t win the last year of the coastal. Doing that, and looking respectable against Clemson (have a game plan, cool heads, no dumb self inflicted errors) in the AC3G is the expectation floor for this season imo.

And if we’re able to do that then who knows. Maybe TVD has a career night, maybe a couple of 50/50 balls go our way. Anything can happen.

Our offensive line is so **** bad man. What the 2 previous staffs recruited at that position is embarrassing.
Until we don’t get our siht pushed in on every 3&2 running play we have a ceiling.

TBH that recent pic of the o-line really
killed my boner for this season.

Winning the coastal is more feasible than you guys think. Our schedule (outside of that late-season road trip to Clemson) is very fortuitous in terms of when we play our biggest opponents, and our division foes don’t have it easy.

- We open ACC play (and consequently, Mario’s first conference game) with UNC at home. I like our chances, especially with UNC breaking in a new QB and our boys having a seasoned opponent in A&M already under the belt; additionally, vs. Midd Tenn the week prior allows us to work on certain areas that we struggled with in College Station. The Tar Heels also have to play both Wake and NC State from the Atlantic.

- Pitt is the other obstacle, and while they do return a slew of production from 2021, the losses of Pickett, Addison, and OC Mark Whipple might be too much. I’m not a huge believer in Slovis, and we get them on Thanksgiving Week in the regular season finale; which also happens to be at Hard Rock. There’s always cause for concern regarding Northeast Teams and dealing with humidity late in the winter. We also sneaky own Pitt - winners of four in a row, six of the past seven, and fourteen of the past sixteen. If you want to stretch it back to the 80’s, winners of 22/25. Pitt’s toughest conference games are all on the road - UNC, Miami, Louisville and UVA.

- UVA/Duke/VT breaking in new coaches. That road trip to Charlottesville the week prior to FSU might be a trap game, but other than Armstrong…they don’t scare me much. I’m a fan of Grant Wells as well, but Pry has an entire roster overhaul to deal with at VT. Duke is Duke, and GT should be pretty horrific.

Head says- We probably will lose the two road games we will obviously be big underdogs going into.
Then probably lose a game we probably do not expect due to some bad Cristobal decision making down the stretch. (Virginia? Hokies? Pitt?)

Heart says- 15-0!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We will see how much of a difference a top coaching staff makes.

I don’t know much about any of them. I would say Strong is our best coach only based off of his advancement.

This has everything to do with field play and nothing with recruitment.

Horse * * * *. (so to speak . . .)

Best bird dog I ever had - I didn't teach him diddly squat.

He was a natural -

"field day play and nothing with recruitment."

You'll NEVER get the "natrural" that way!

This season?

Roster still has too many holes to project us to win the ACC in year 1 of Mario’s tenure.

OL still has questions at RT & RG & there’s a glaring lack of depth in the event of injury to any of the OT’s.

The WR group is still unproven & all reports from Spring & Summer have been that no one has stood out or stepped up yet.

The Defense doesn’t have a premier pass rusher, we added good depth via Portal & the DLine should be improved in certain aspects with the additions, but we haven’t had a dominant pass rusher emerge yet. The LB corps lacks depth as well, aside from Chase Smith & Bissainthe we don’t really have any sure LB talent that has prerequisite speed & playmaking ability. Most of our LB’s are either too slow or converted Safety’s/Rush-Ends who never developed.

The CB group still has question marks as well, we have solid young depth at Corner & some good prospects, but if they don’t get on the field it won’t matter. Stevenson is a very good CB, but the rest have a lot to prove, there’s talent in the group but they have to show it.

Next year, if we’re still in the ACC, then it’s definitely possible; we’ll have to add OL, LB, DT, EDGE, big play WR & possibly another CB from the Portal for next season, but we’ll be in year 2 of the Cristobal era & the roster should start taking the shape of how he wants to be structured. If Gattis is still the OC then we could see Jacurri Brown thrive in his Offense & yes I know Garcia is there but I honestly don’t think he fits best in Gattis’s system, but we’ll cross that bridge when we get there.

And by year 3 (2024), we likely won’t be in the ACC anymore, so there’s that lol
The Gattis/Garcis take is interesting, I actually think jake fits this system better than all of our QBs including TVD(no he’s not better). I think jacurri fits it the least but could add a different dynamic because of his athleticism, Jacurri in a briles offense would be insane i hope he plays here before that happens tho lol

Yea we will be more talented than every team we face except Clemson. How's that worked the last 15 years 🙄.

In your mind, you're hunting with last year's dogs.

If you try to use mutts without training - you'll get mutt results.

Same dogs with training and most important - motive/motivation - the prey will go to the canny hunter.

An ACC title would be a tremendous accomplishment, since we‘ve never won one.

Mario, Rad, (and Ruiz) are in this for the long game. Finish strong. Whatever the last game is should be our best game.

I want to see how we finish the season and roll into 2023.

Or I'm not a blind homer who expects an entirely new staff to turn shít into sugar yr1. Mario is great but to pretend like he is gonna mask all deficiencies is asinine. I believe he can build a great team but he certainly didn't inherit one.

Speaking of a new staff!

You need a proper diversion/cheer-me-up! I can tell you what worked for me: Three midget acrobat girls from the circus. I've tried and tried to forget that night - but not too hard. I still recommend it!

You see, it's the little things that make a big difference . . .

People acting like DWatson or that trio 1st round Dline they had a couple of years ago is running down that hall for them

Don’t forget they will probably be starting a true frosh QB… their Oline is always suspect… zero clue who is this RB and still can’t find a reliable WR
