In two years who will have a better team, Jim Harbaugh or Mark Richt? Harbaugh has more money, but less local talent. Richt has less money, but more local talent. Harbaugh does have a year on Richt and plays, in my opinion, a weaker conference, so I think he has a easier path, but I think most people would agree that Harbaugh and Michigan haven't arrived until they beat Urban Liar and OSU. I think Richt's success will amplify in attention due to the market, which will be advantageous for everyone. We will win recruits and ESPN will make more money. It's also hard to argue that not only is Michigan, but the whole Midwest is a less fertile than Florida in terms of recruits, so I think think the implications are higher for Richt. If Miami ends up with top five recruiting classes in 2017 & 2018, it wouldn't be difficult to view The U on top tier level like Alabama and Ohio State. As a U fan I would never wanna compare our team to any other college or NFL team because we are our own brand, and I would only compare us to one team, '01. I guess should be asking, who is more of a high risk/ high reward college football coach in the next two to three years?

The real question is CMR vs Jimbo. Harbaugh is in another league and will bring Michigan back to that championship level. I have Michigan vs Bama or Clemson playing for all the chips. Trust me I'm almost half right.

Miami. I think we have a better season THIS, next and every year going forward.

Long-term Richt teams will be better. As we saw with the 49ers, harbaugh style beats the crap out of kids. Not sure that's style of football will last, too many concussions come from that style. How many of his former players retired the year he left or shortly thereafter.

Seems like the local talent base is better in South Florida for sure, but Harbaugh has the name to recruit nationally, so he'll be able to cherry pick some kids. He has that edge like Saban, which Richt did not have in the later years at UGA, and I'm not sure he ever will, but maybe with him being more personally involved coaching kids again, it will be better at Miami. Living in Georgia, with family who are season ticket holders for years, I watched a lot of games over the past ten years where UGA looked very flat for the big games. Florida feasted on them, and Alabama did once Saban got established, which is why he was fired.

He was never going to be successful there, with those boosters and the system they have. They needed a coach with a personality like Saban, and Smart seems to fit the bill. I've heard what he's told the kids, and there's no real family message there. He's told the kids, he's not there to love them, he was brought in to win championships. Whether he is a good head coach is still to be seen, but he's tearing up recruiting there now, and doing all the right things to push back against the rest of the SEC.

I like Harbaugh more and do think Michigan will be in the college playoffs soon. I do think we'll have a better season this year though.

In 2 years Harbaugh will definitely have the better team.....because he'll be back in the NFL. Crazy Jim and the college game isn't going to be a longterm marriage. He was too close to winning a Super Bowl, is too competitive with his brother who has won one and will be in too much demand to be content on this level.

Michigan has to compete with Ohio St and Michigan St in their own division but you think Miami has the tougher conference path to navigate?

I think Harbaugh is much better suited to the college game. He just burns people out, so he is better off with a wholly changing labor force every 3-5 years than in the pros. His rah-rah shtick only lasts so long, although I think he is an excellent coach.

But I don't know if he learned that yet or not. If not, yeah, he'll probably go back to the NFL. If so, he may be a Michigan lifer. I hoped he stay at Stanford, thought that was a perfect match.

On the Miami side, this is a very different Richt regime than I expected. I have friends close to the UGA program. When I tell them what he is doing here they are stunned. He is bringing a lot more than I expected or they ever saw.

I think the in-conference battles are about equal. On a regular basis Michigan has to get past OSU and Miami has to get past FSU. The next step in each conference means you get past MSU and Clemson, both currently established programs. After that, an annual crapshoot. Miami has better localized recruiting for several positions, while Michigan must go national (but it always has). If Miami gives Richt the resources, and so far it looks like it is doing so, I give the slight edge to Miami going forward.

Never going to be successful there? Give me a break, the man won 145 games in 15 years including one losing year, which without it he averaged 10 wins year in toughest conference playing football. Being a long time dawg season ticket holder can assure you he was best coach UGA ever had and if not saddled by a fla gator trained AD McGoofy would have won even more. You are obviously a Kirby Smart fan, but don't bet the house that he is going to win more than CMR will with the Canes.

The difference between here and UGA is that it sounded like he was in a couple of power struggles there, while here he is currently the guy. He may have wanted to do certain things for a while but not had the power to do it or gotten the support for it. He probably also has some lessons learned from his experience there that he is applying here.

Miami has the easier path. Their division sucks ***. Michigan has OSU and Michigan St in their division. It's not even debatable.

strongly gotta disagree with you. Dumbo has shown he's a horrible Coach. He has a staff of elite recruiters who like the rest of Florida & parts of the country has benefited greatly by our dead time. He has benefited by playing in an average conference (at the time)because no other teams excelled at quarterback play. Until clemson came along & developed DeShawn yall said Dumbo is amazing. If he is so amazing why has he needed alfraud golden & no dnofrito to sabotage us three years in a row. I'm going full DENNIS GREEN here. If you wanna crown him feel free. But the semenholes are what we thought they are. Average ****. In 2 to 3 years it will be both us & Michigan competing at the tops of the football world while Lil brother slides back to their rightful place. Watch & see
