Lyle. I 100% expected him to portal and he didn't. Mario probably guaranteed him every opportunity to regain the #2 spot and take over as the #1 after Fletcher leaves. I expect Lyle (if he stays healthy) to have a good year.

Then what did he guarantee Brown and Pringle?

It will be Lyle IMO.

Thought about why we stacked so many talented running backs and them willingly accepted to stay here despite probably having the opportunity to start somewhere else, even if it may be a level "down" (which I do not believe is harmful to your NFL chances but that is beside the point).

Essentially, you have two bulldozers and two cats in the same backfield. Fletcher and Brown are more inside runners with their power and Lyle and Pringle are both guys you want to see doing more on the outside with their quickness and acceleration. I believe that Pringle has the best hands out of the four, so he will be catching more passes next season. Brown will receive more carries in the red area because of his ball security, his leg drive and the ability to push the pile.

That leaves Lyle. The man can play. He was starting last season, got hurt and other opportunites showed up for others to participate. He is a change of pace-back with enough mass on his body (pause) to withstand inside carries.

The offense will change anyway. There is more speed and athletic ability on the outside. The splits will be probably be wider than last year. There will be more movement from the QB. This all adds to what will be a different offense. Saban talked about having tendency breakers not too long ago, this offense has the ability to break tendencies from week to week.

How about running tempo so we get 80 snaps a game and rush it 40 times? Get those spread out so each can get around 10 a game. Same is true for the insane depth at WR.

We really don’t need tempo all the time. I’d just run tempo early to get as many first half touches as possible. We need to blow out everyone if we are getting a first round bye. Our schedule is weak!

He probably promised them the same thing. But he also probably reminded Lyle that he was RB1 starting the season last year.
