Some others act like it was yesterday and it was 3 years and a career changing foot injury ago.
It was a career changing foot injury to fit your narrative. U actually have no idea if that injury affected his athleticism bc next season he played DT…out of position.

Bain and Mesidor are not twitchy enough to be every-down DEs imo. Hetherman must decide whether or not he wants to have the best pass rush in the ACC, or whether he wants to placate Bain and Mesidor by allowing them to play DE.

DE: Blount, Bryant, Lowe, McConathy, Lightfoot, Pickett, Scroggins

DT: Bain, Mesidor, Scott, Blay, Moten, Simpson, Russell, Jones, Newton
Who is a better pass rusher than bain on your DE list?

He’s proved something so far that the others haven’t.

Let them rotate in and PROVE they deserve it.

Their HS rating and rankings don’t mean **** unless they show they were deserved.
Do you know what message bored you're on? Those high school steeplechase numbers are GOLD, Jerry! Return one punt on the HS freshman team 12 years ago? Put him in no35

He completely missed 10 games and didn’t even practice in the following spring/summer.

Why do you think he played DT? It wasn’t where he projected in the NFL, wasn’t best for our team, and wasn’t a necessity? Seems like it was because he had to.

Something seems to have gotten lost here - I like Bain. I like Mesidor. I do not like both on the field at the same time at DE in this system. The DE positions are different and require different skill sets.

If Lightfoot and Blount take a significant leap this year..I see some portal attrition after the season at DE. Especially if Lowe is as good as advertised too..Room getting crowded. And JT is keeping that room backfilled with big time recruits.

Well I guess you're going to be upset because that's who's going to be starting at both DE spots.

I just commented an opinion and mentioned what I thought would be best for the team, I guess as a typical survey response thread would suggest others do. Provided some input why it isn't ideal.

You all are taking this personally or thinking I'm going to be hurt for some strange reason. I've said many times our recruiting at DE has been almost exclusively tweeners and we really don't have a choice.

Uhh, Mario clearly stated Mesidor played primarily DT bc the team needed it due to depth issues. Mario and the staff clearly thought it was the best for the team. considering Mesidor look better at DE towards the end of the season I think your hypothesis is far off.

You think he's going to say "Mesidor couldn't practice for 10 months and gained 15 pounds and 7% body fat and isn't nearly as explosive as he was pre-injury so he had to kick inside full time"

No. Its not a hypothesis. Its a question that I'm waiting to find the answer just like everyone else should be.

Haven’t seen Lowe personally so I’m holding off on factoring him into anything as a true freshman but have high hopes. I have seen Lightfoot and took into consideration what I heard about the steps he’s taken since the season

Hope it’s Lightfoot because of the talent level and he’s the best athlete in our DL room. Also, if he’s starting, it means he’s taken a massive leap and is a baller. That would be best case scenario. His skill set is the best fit in this defense to start opposite of Bain, if he’s ready. Lowe would fit that category as well but like I said I have to see it first.

In early April I asked @Brooklyndee who was first off the bench, Bryant or Blount. He said situational but Blount overall. Then Lightfoot a final week of practice and emerged from the Spring game as one to watch. So my guess is Blount and Lightfoot are knocking on the door now for field-side DE snaps.

But people discount Mesidor. The guy is extremely talented and committed to becoming an NFL level DE. I think he will be very very good for us. We are stacked at DE.

Exactly what I've been hearing which is why I said Lightfoot. Him being good enough to beat out the 2 presumed to be in front of him would mean he's taken a leap and is a nightmare.

He looked the part at the end of spring. A little wiry but coming along. Reminded me of a young version of K'Lavon Chaisson from LSU back when we opened up with them (1st rounder to the Jags I believe)

People forget Mesidor’s first season with us in 2022 was pretty good. Was disruptive, always in the backfield and made some good plays for us.

Wasn’t best for our team and wasn’t a necessity? Uh you sure about that? I’d literally say that is the exact reason he went to DT

In what world was it best for the team to play a 275 pound DE at DT? Especially when Bain went down we needed him at DE. He was a LB in HS and started as a stand up guy at WVU.

Barrow, Clark, Moten, Cook, and Scott should have been the only ones playing DT.

Lightfoot is maturing quick. His only issue is his ability to help against the run is limited because his first step is so explosive and COMMITTED upfield & his weight while he's putting some weight on he's still got gains to be had. Actually reminds me a lot of JT.

You forget at the time that injury occurred and we moved him to tackle 3 of those 5 were injured in some capacity. This year wouldn't be the same situation unless the injuries occurred again. But if you believe you have multiple edges capable of making game changing plays wouldn't you want them on flthe field together? In most situations it wouldn't be at dt that's for sure. It would've been backer. But with our lb core & DBS being what they were do you really think we could sub one out consistently and replace with someone only getting after the backfield?
