Who on this board wanted Mendoza to transfer to the U?

Mendoza is an example of why you take a chance on CJ Bailey next year.

I think most of us judged Mendoza based on the Cal game last year. I personally just thought he was okay. Never thought he’d win a heisman.

First off who offered him besides Cal? Second who offered him in the portal? Part of him going to Indians was because his brother was there. Yes the kid had a great year but I heard nobody saying he was a top transfer priority. After the ND game nobody was saying we should have went after Mendoza instead of Beck. Indiana was the right place and right coach for Mendoza. Now look at Ward. He was the top QB in the portal.

I thought he would have been a good pickup. I dsiagreed with most people on here who wanted nothing to do with him.
But once I found out Beck was coming I thought that would be a better fit than Mendoza.

I still think I am right but Mendoza played phenomenal and exceeded my expectations within Indiana's system and deserved the Heisman. Glad he beat the O$U and won the conference too.

Beck's season (minus the two losses) is on par with Mendoza's, while Mendoza played a much more favorable schedule.

Both guys went to the right program and situation for their situations.

Both guys will end up getting a chance to start in the NFL but Mendoza will cost a GM his job for not living up to the high draft pick spent. Mendoza and Beck won't be the cornerstone for any franchise and will likely play for at minimum 4 franchises.

No offense but Beck makes those exact throws but our WRs don’t come down with those. Although Toney and Daniels have made some contested catches the last few weeks at the end of games. But can you imagine Bauman actually making some of those catches?
I like Beck. I like Mendoza. Both will play in the NFL and they're both in the playoffs.

The truth is that 80% of Canes fans were furious when I first suggested both names as good QB options. I know because I was going live every day when it happened.

Some people STILL won’t admit how horribly wrong they were as Mendoza accepts the Heisman Trophy. This board has a weird thing with transfer QBs where nobody is good enough except the top consensus option.

I was never a big fan of his but in retrospect it was probably a cal issue. Living out here I watch more of them than I should. He had some good games but I just remember being extremely frustrated at games like FSU where they struggled to score. Maybe that’s my blind spot on Bailey. He looked so pedestrian against Miami I can’t unsee that. Cam on the other hand might not have had the team success but you can see the playmaking ability. That’s probably why I like Raiola and Leavitt.
