Who obsesses over spring "game" attendance?

Should've been you show, you go.

Ticket idea was a bad one.

I'm not saying this happened, but rivals could easily take tickets and do nothing with them. Tin foil hat posters here probably think that.
FACT: Mark Emmert AND Nick Saban registered for thousands of tickets. I know because their IP address has been traced to UM servers. For reals.

They shook. They shook bad.

Stay vigilant my brother. Keep it frosty.

Yeah you guys sound like this is the year 1963 when my mom use to tell me (we lived in Miami) that driving “all the way to Ft Ladadale to visit your other family members is a 4 hour drive, son”. LOL! This is the year 2022. It’s a 30min drive tops.

That said, the parking situation easily turned away a lot of folks. Not worth all the headache for a Spring game I’m sure some decided. I don’t blame them

So our fans are just dumb as **** and couldn't be bothered to show up, but took the time to get the free tickets?

Hot sun? It's SFL, this isn't unusual. Did they stay home? In air conditioning? Do something else indoors?

Is the school surprised?

Anyhow, it is what it is. You had to know **** well sellout didn't mean ****. I'm more interested in butts in seats than reported ticket sales spring game or regular game. Still doesn't mean jack tough, looked well attended by our standards.

Those big spring game showings only a few have are impressive though. If we had Phins place packed or even half, you know some people would be bragging about it. Same people who say it doesn't matter today.

Good event. Lots of recruits. Lots of past greats. Best spring game attendance in a long time. How was the accessibility to the players and past greats before and after the game?
We had a thread just on here with guys all grabbing up to 6 tix then trying to give them all away less than 24 hours before game, I was like wtf.. A thread with a guy asking for tix (because it was "sold out") turned into a giveaway for 4+ tix each, lol.. wtf

Lol it didn’t matter where it was. I can’t ever remember seeing 8000 at a spring game in over two decades. **** last year it was me and some parents. I don’t believe we had a 1000 last year fwiw. Truth be told, it was an exceptional turnout!
Turnout was fine (for a spring game) but promoting it was a “sell out” with X tickets given away and significant amount fans don’t show, who had tickets, is not a good look. I knew this was going to happen. But when the majority of you fan base is in a different city, you’re not exactly helping your cause.

For sure.

Maybe they nabbed them up hoping they would eventually have some value off market. When that didn't happen, let's give them away. Who knows, doesn't matter, great turnout.

UM made people acquire a ticket to get into the spring game. UM Marketing Dept. said you would not be able to walk up and get in. Then a few days ago they said the game was SOLD OUT. I have to wonder how many people might have popped up Saturday morning and wanted to go but did not because they were told it was sold out. The only thing that sold out was the UM marketing department.

Stadium capacity is listed at 18,000. Given that, I'd estimate game attendance around 9K - 10K. Not a bad turnout for a Canes spring game.

I did not see very many students in attendance. Mostly locals.

The East side (not shown) was about 90% full.

I have relatives who live in the Miami Lakes area who fret over having to drive all the way to Kendall or Hollywood. You would think they were driving to the Panhandle...lol

Let's get real.

8-9K rivals some crowds we've seen at HRS.

Im not sure I understand the direction of your comment, so I'll just reiterate what I was trying to say in my post above.

* 9-10K is my estimate, which I said is not a bad turnout.

* Students did not turn out. Not sure if it was related to it being Easter Weekend or distance from campus or the fact that 18-22 year olds tend to be whiny little ******* in our society today other.

* UM marketing Dept. forcing everyone to have to pre-purchase a no-cost ticket then announcing that the game was sold out last Thursday might have had a negative effect on attendance.

* And perhaps worth noting, UM played their spring game in a stadium with pink seats. The ghost of Blake James still hovers over this program.

I was making a joke considering the oft criticism of HRS attendance in the past.

8K is remarkable for Spring Game attendance.

I saw pictures of the sideline sections being all filled up, was it not?

It was a mix of things.

Both sidelines, plus one "end zone" were largely filled. BUT, there were also a ton of people in the suites (including this building off in one corner of the stadium), there were people standing behind barricades down close to the field, there were people down getting food/merch, and there were people who just kept tailgating.

Look, it was a free event. Not everyone looked to "get their money's worth" by sitting in their seats for 2 straight hours.

I realize our hated rivals are going to try to punk us with some screenshot of the stands for 1 second of the game, but the people who were there can tell you about the traffic and all the cars in the parking lots. If some people chose to socialize instead of watching every moment like the Zapruder film, that's up to them.

If I were a Gaytor or a SemenHole right now, I'd be much more concerned with what happened on the field. I realize I'm biased, but I watched all 3 spring games very closely, and Miami definitely had the best on-field performance. By a wide margin.

Yeah, and I even had to reach out to someone to get a ticket for myself, since I waited to long for my brother's family to decide (because I did NOT want to request tickets I would not use) and the game "sold out" first.
