Who is the worst QB in Canes history?

Frank Costa..... had such a loaded team to win the national championship that honestly a twelve-year-old could have been throwing the ball. Played for Natty despite him being horrible

Freeman went 1-14 against NCST. Definitely the worst. At least when Rosier was the guy he threw for 3000. Not defending 2018 but we would have been better off if he was just the "the guy" for that season. He was good enough but didn't have a chance to settle in.

R u crazy? Rosier was best QB since Berlin. Actually got us to acc title game and up to #2 before collapsing. Won ten games to start season.

2017 is a very overrated season that I’m tired of hearing about. And Rosier sucked that year, just not as much as in 2018.

Kaaya was a far better QB than Rosier. I’d take Kaaya over every QB since at least Dorsey, and possibly even over Dorsey. (Since I’ve long wondered how great Dorsey would have seemed if it weren’t for his surrounding talent. )

EJ Baker for us older Canes!

I thought of him. Definitely a contender. Athletic guy but he specialized in line drives into the dirt.

From the 50+ years I have seen I will go with Kelly Cochrane, primarily because his results really nosedived to incompetent level but it took the coaches 2 years to figure it out. Cochrane had a strong arm. He was decent as a sophomore and nearly upset Houston on the road in a high scoring nationally televised game.

However, in the following 2 seasons Cochrane had some of the most remarkable stats you'll ever see. As a junior in 1970 he was trusted with 287 pass attempts. That was a massive number given that era. Cochrane completed only 44.7% for 4.7 yards per attempt. If you factor in the 21 interceptions, Cochrane's Adjusted Yards Per Attempt dropped to 1.9.

In 1971 as a senior Cochrane completed 18 of 46 for 39.1% and 4.8 YPA. He had 0 touchdown passes and 6 interceptions. Those numbers equate to a negative Adjusted Yards Per Attempt of -1.1

Cochrane was benched in favor of John Hornibrook, who was a wiry guy and more of an all-around athlete than pure quarterback.

If you look at Cochrane's career chart you can see how it nosedived, to a final number of 3.0 Adjusted Yards Per Attempt:

As bad as E.J. Baker was, he finished with 4.1 Adjusted Yard Per Attempt. Baker had 9 career touchdown passes and 16 interceptions. Cochrane was more than double on the bad side. He finished with 18 touchdown passes and 42 interceptions. That is what accounts for the miserable Adjusted Yards Per Attempt:

I was a kayak guy from the beginning. He had crap for coaches. Rosier was baseball player and suck or not he lead the best season we have had since Berlin. I love Vinny but with great talent still 0-2 in title games so Ken is better. All the QBs since Berlin won nothing and that is who we are comparing. Rosier gave us the most exciting and fruitful season of all of them. He won several games with last minute comeback scores, the measure of good QBs everywhere. He deserves his place.

The last minute comebacks were needed because Rosier had sucked for the first 58 minutes of the game.

Yeah but he made them. St Bobby would have given his first born for one of those instead of another missed kick.
