I have never seen a UM Defensive Lineman do what Sapp did to Nebraska in 95 (losing effort) with a severely depleted and banged up D-Line (Riley out with torn ACL)...till absolute Exhaustion like I've never seen. He threw Frazier around like a rag doll to the point Frazier was benched, and Berringer was brought in and subjected to even worse abuse.....Without question...the most relentless performance by a DLman in UM History..

1a - Ray Lewis
1b - Ed Reed

Slight edge to Ray Lewis.

In college: 2nd in voting for the Butkus award in his junior year. Had 160+ tackles. Arguably should've won it. The guy was a tackling machine.

Pros: 2x defensive player of the year. 7x 1st team all pro. 3x 2nd team all pro. 2x Supe rbowl champ. Super Bowl MVP. Arguably the best middle linebacker ever to play the game.

Hendricks. 3x AA (?), has 4 SB rings, NFL HOF
My vote too. There’s some great choices, but Ted’s a winner on this one imho.

I would have to agree.

On a side note, we always talk about the legedary Sean Taylor vs FSU in the rain and rightfully so, but I will never forget Russell Maryland's complete demoliton of the Texas OL in the 91 Cotton Bowl. Unblockable.
Sean Taylor was a monster one of my favorites....same with Jerome Brown..... gone to soon

Yes, per the criteria cited by another poster, Ted was only lacking on the "won a national championship" criterion. BUT HE HAS A MAJOR POSITIONAL AWARD NAMED AFTER HIM, so that should count for something and offset the fact that he played on some lesser UM teams...

all great players, reading about all the great ones not listed
i am going with EdReed & M.Irvin they were both heart and soul for their the Canes teams and Ed of Ravens with Ray
and Michael was the straw that stirred the drink for the cowboys

TED HENDRICKS

For all the reasons @Pentagon Cane noted:

327 total tackles in 3 years. Still unsurpassed by any Miami defensive line.
2X First Team All-American
1X Second Team All-American
Beat the bejesus out of Spurrier to a point Spurrier threw a football at Hendricks that struck his facemask not to take another sack
College Football Hall of Fame
Oh, and they named an annual award after him.

4X Super Bowl champion
8X Pro Bowl
4X First Team All-NFL
2X Second Team All-NFL
First Team All-NFL 1970s
First Team All-NFL 1980s
75th Anniversary All-NFL

Apparently not. 🤷

I voted Irvin because he is That Dude still in Tx...... Star of Stars

But Devin Hester played everywhere for The "U" and the only player that was video game until retirement.

And one of the greatest pictures of all-time in the Florida-Miami series.

Your honor I rest my case.

Strong case. Very strong.

Sean Taylor was well on his way. That is the biggest tragedy for not only the u but for professional football. Cannot think of a bigger loss at the pro level. Rip ST
