X's and O's Who Ends Up With "Better" Run: Riley vs Cristobal

Yes, in a sense, but this is a totally different SC team. This is not the same team that went 4-8. Caleb Williams is a huge upgrade over Dart. Dart is fairing decent at Ole Miss, but I look fwd to him coming back to earth as the schedule flips, as he showed this past Saturday.

Dye & Ralek r 1000% an upgrade over what SC trotted out last season.

The WR room? Lol. They were relying upon the head case Bru McCoy last yr. SC INSTANTLY upgraded that room w/ the top player & WR in Addison, then supplemented that w/ Williams & Jerry Rice Jr.??

The biggest key was implementing a new offense WITH a QB, the leader, already familiar w/ said offense. With Mario, & I knew this would be an issue, as my consistent post history shows, implementing a new offense that have to be learned. Thatā€™s why typically 1st yr coaches at a new program struggle when inheriting a roster w/ old habits & language. It didnā€™t help that our QB also lost 57% of its playmaking production on offense.
Definitely underrated that TVD lost Rambo and Harley. No excuses but didnā€™t help. Never does.

Id think someone wants to live in cali over Oklahoma but weā€™ll see, lincoln has to go after better ones either way
Rileyā€™s Co-OC/OL guru Bill Bedenbaugh chose to stay in Oklahoma. But, BB and family are from the area. Soā€¦

I live in LA. I wouldnā€™t move to Oklahoma (retiring in 5-7 years), but ainā€™t staying in SoCal.

Riley is going to get the hype and results both early and down the road. His style of coaching generates excitement and makes recruiting easy for him. If he could pull the top QB's and WR's he did at fugggen Oklahoma, based mostly on his style of coaching, then imagine what he will do at USC? He instantly had the nations top QB's, WR's RB's transfer and signing with USC just based purely on his X's and O's coaching style. That will go a long way for him. How many top national players followed Mario to Miami?

Mario's entire career and level of sustained success will be heavily dependent on his Offensive Coordinator hire(s). That has yet to prove successful for him a top national level at any job he's had.

Riley doesn't spend time talking about 'Culture' and 'Work ethic' etc. He spends time talking about football. I wouldn't be surprised to see him make a jump to the NFL in a few years when he gets bored at USC

Lol; ā€œIf he could pull the top QB's and WR's he did at fugggen Oklahomaā€

Why r u acting like Riley was pulling top QBs & WRs at Montana St or some chit? Lol. U do realize that UO pre Riley was a **** good program under Bob Stoops, right? Lol

Talent wise Miami is ranked 13th nationally. USC is behind Miami in that category. This comes down to coaching my friend. Reality this team should be 4 n 0. 3 n 1 at the most. We haven't played a **** soul. I hope he can turn this thing around fast. But what I saw the last game was deer eyes my friend. Plain n Simple

May I ask where did u get that Miami is ranked 13th nationally, talent wise?

While still very early in Riley's and Cristobal's run with their current teams, who do you guess will have "better" results by the time their turn in the seat is over?

A few weeks ago I was strongly leaning Cristobal. After his 4th and 17 Manuela moment against MTSU, the warning signs are flashing brightly on the dashboard. This season will likely be a complete trainwreck, so Mario's next gate to show the fans anything will be holding a respectable recruiting class together.

I get the vibe Riley is going to have medium-strong success then will be unable to resist the allure of some desperate NFL owner.

First season will go to Riley, but if Cristobal and somehow land a Top 25 class even with an 7-10 loss season, that moght be a good indicator long term. No matter his success, I don't see Cristobal as an NFL guy.
If both coaches are still with their same schools 5 years from now, no doubt about it, Mario will be on top. You gotta believe he is ā€œfootball smartā€ enough to see the current problems and will make it his lifeā€™s mission to correct things.

I agree Riley probably see himself in NFL 5 yrs from now if it all goes to plan...

At FIU, Mario had a 35% win average
At Oregon, which already had a decent program, he held serve.
2021, signature win against OSU, and a double belly flop against Utah.
What do you see that he will take Miami to the promised land..
Yaā€™ll love to bring up FIU, donā€™t u?

OK:
Strock (FIUā€™s 1st coach): 25% win/avg.
-Best season: 5-6

Cristobal (FIUā€™s 2nd coach): 36.4% win/avg
-Best season: 8-5

Turner (FIUā€™s 3rd coach): 25% win/avg
-Best season: 5-7

Davis (FIUā€™s 4th coach): 42.8% win/avg
-Best season: 9-4

McIntyre (FIUā€™s 5th coach): TBD

The two coaches that get the most hate by its own fan base r Mario & Butch, yet they r the two most successful coaches at the worst program in America. Furthermore, Mario was the only one who brought them their first hardware from the conference & a bowl game.

And pls knock it off w/ that UO line. After that 2014 season, UO went 20-18 over the next 3 seasons b4 Mario became HC. They then go 35-13 over the next 4.

The crazy thing bout all of this is Iā€™m not even a Mario fan like that; I wanted Bill Clarke, Lance Leipold, & Urban Meyer to come here, but some of the chit yaā€™ll posting is wild af. I get it; we just lost to MTSU; but, keep everything in context. If we donā€™t win another game this yr, pls spam the boards.

Riley, the offensive extraordinaire will never win a natty IMO. I remember him corching away games @ECU. He'll average better than Mario by season, but I think Mario can build a team, that with the right assistants could catch lightening and win one or two. Call me crazy but I just see Riley building a championship team. JMO.

Do you live in 2022? You do realize that Riley produced 2 Heisman trophy winners and 3 NFL QB's back to back to back????? WHEN did OU pull and produce TOP QB's prior to Riley? Yes, OU was pretty **** good under Stoops. Riley transformed them offensively. If you can't see that, then you are likely brain dead. Again, what top national talent followed Maribro to Miami vs what followed Riley to USC? let me know......and let me know what top offensive products Maribro has produced, QB, WR, RB etc. Thanks bro

LMAO!

U clearly donā€™t know chit about CFB, so Iā€™ll be easy on u.

1. The two heisman trophy QBs that Riley produced were 3 star transfers from Texas Tech. The ā€œalmostā€ 3rd QB he produced was a transfer QB from Bama.

2. The only two top QBs that Riley recruited was in 2019 (#1 Spencer Rattler) & 2021 (#2 Caleb Williams). Spencer Rattler sucked

3. Now to answer ur immediate ? Under Bob Stoops:

-2001: #6 QB Brent Rawls
-2004: #1 QB Brett Bomar
-2008: #5 QB Landry Jones
-2010: #1 DTQB Blake Bell
-2013: #8 QB Cody Thomas
-2016: #9 Austin Kendall (committed in 2015)

Maybe U heard that lowly heralded guys like Jason White & Sam Bradford won Heismans under Stoops, kinda like 3-star transfers Kyler Murray & Baker Mayfield under Riley.

OK, now they we got that out the way, maybe u heard of Sterling Shepherd? Kenny Stills? Mark Andrew? Mark Clayton? Mark Bradley? Malcolm Kelly, possibly? Jermaine Gresham? No?

Should I talk about RBs? No?

OK; how about this:

This is not a knock on Lincoln Riley, vs. a knock on ur post. Riley took over a very, VERY healthy OU program both from a perception & recruiting standpoint. Heā€™s a **** good coach, one of my favorites in the game, but stop acting like Riley did something that his predecessor didnā€™t do which was create Heisman winning QBs, recruit the position, & took over a lame program he infused life into.

Drake got injured in week 7 or 8, which is y I left him off.

Bru was a fā€™ing no show for 2021 his behaviors

I forgot the other guy who was the other receiver. I think it was the transfer from Memphis.

But ur point still stands.

I don't dislike Mario at all, he's our coach, he does well, my team does well..
I whiffed on FIU by a silly point ,and a fraction.
By the way, you waxed on & on about FIU more than i have in 9 years..

The only thing Iā€™ve waxed on about FIU is that we shouldā€™ve never lost to them b/c they r by far the worst FBS program since 2012 in which no P5 team ever lost to.

My other point is stop bringing up Mario & FIU b/c thereā€™s literally not been one successful coach there. Heā€™s the most successful coach in regardless to hardware, & Butch is the most successful in regards to record. This is also why I was very adamant about not hiring Mario in 2015, b/c I needed to see him at a fresh start w/ a competent program on either the G5 or P5 levels b4 coming here. Once he proved himself at the P5 level, I was good w/ him.

So for the sake of everyoneā€™s time; I posted the history of FIU football so we can move on from that chapter & focus on what he did at UO. If he failed at FIU & UO, my friend u wouldnā€™t hear a peep from me on this subject; but, FIU legit should be a FCS program, maybe even NAIA

Oh, and when have i even mentioned Oregon except for the double losses to Utah.
If you want to criticize me, go ahead, but could you be a little less 'wordy'?..
