Who do you want to be OC next season?

Dawson basically said as much when asked directly about it a few weeks ago.
Don’t think Mirabal “calls the run plays”. Run coordinator typically designs the blocking schemes, personnel groupings (for the blockers), etc. They give their play sheet to the OC for Gameday. Dawson would be the one calling the actual plays. Obv with some input from Mario/Mirabal though we don’t know how much.

If and when Dawson moves on Mario will go all in on Sherron Moore if and when he’s let go at Michigan. That way we can go with a 65/35 run/pass split and try to win games 12-10.

I’m not caping for Dawson but can we just sticky this **** so people stop posting dumb **** about Dawsons run scheme?
Hey man...

Somebody has to be the scapegoat & we cannot under any circumstances at all whatsoever blame Mirabal or Cristobal for anything ever.

I should caveat what I said- I don’t know for a fact how accurate it is that Mirabal calls the run plays. That’s what I have seen reported here, and as you know the internet never lies.

I don’t understand how the logistics of that would even work. Does Mirabal buzz in and say “I want to run the ball now” and override Dawson? It doesn’t make much sense to me how it could be done.
I’m curious about this as well.
We’ve obviously heard this from many posters and if one goes back and watches Dawson’s games at Houston (I watched 3 condensed games this morning), his running scheme there was completely different.
Then we look at Gattis’s running scheme here and it’s a carbon copy of the last couple years, so either Dawson is being told in the game plan that the A-B gap is where Mario wants the running game, or Mirabal has input, as is being claimed.

What I would also like to know is who is deciding which running backs are on the field. One would have to be a complete idiot to keep putting Lyle in at crucial short yardage or red zone calls and then running him up the guards backside. We saw this **** with Gattis with Parrish.

I don’t think these issues are the OC’s choice. So it doesn’t seem to me to matter if we get Gary Steven’s to the fountain of youth, cart him up to the press box with a carton of Marlboros, the problems aren’t going to go away until the OC actually controls the offensive play calling and packages.

Yeah, i owe the man an apology.
How the **** does mighty mouse get any say on the run game?
Don’t get me wrong not saying he’s absolved of everything or it would be a juggernaut if he was allowed to call whatever he wanted

Just saying at some point after 3 years we are asking the same things it’s because it’s a foundation of what our HC wants the team to look like

I got you.

Absolute clown-show way of running things. Also hilarious that anyone would think we could attract a real OC with these types of conditions

It's from this presser:

Around 39:40 mark. Think the tweet is pretty inaccurate. Watch it for yourself and decide, but I think Dawson was specifically talking about the heavy sets and the goal line sets, as the previous question was about the "tank" formation he showed in the USF game, and he specifically credits Mirabel for the heavy set runs and goal line runs. He's saying Mirabel designs the run plays when we are in 3rd and 4th and short (which we have been extraordinarily successful on both this year and last) and near the goal line, and that he mixes in some pass plays out of those sets to keep the defense honest. Dawson isn't saying here that Mirabel calls the run plays outside of those situations, which I believe is the claim that a lot of you have adopted.

@90scane I assume this is what you were citing in the other post I asked you for a link?

I don’t want this to seem like I’m caping for anyone, I hate the way the run game has been for multiple years now as much as anyone.

But, I did go back and actually listen to this. Dawson was talking about short yardage/goal line specifically when he said this.

Now, I know our entire run game has been short yardage but just wanted to at least provide some context since everyone is using this quote as evidence.

Welp. @flips apparently also had some time to kill lol

Lol, accurate. And the thing is we have been crazy successful on 3rd and 4th short runs both this year and last. @JHallCanes and I went back and forth on this year's performance a couple of weeks ago, and I checked and after a couple of misses against ND we were basically perfect (one missed 3rd and short that we got on 4th against FSU).

RB coach decides rotation, Dawson Im pretty sure reiterated that last presser

YESSS.. Mario/Mirabal had a complete hard on for Harbaugh run at michigan not taking into account his brother lent him Defensive coaches that had incredible run and Connor Stalion as secret sauce, LMAOOOO.. Plus Mario teams are completely undisciplined compared to Michigan team.. We can NEVER be those teams, it makes no sense. I have a post on wez breaking down, let me dig up..

@PennsylvaniaCane below is what I wrote at time, everything you guys want about why we run duo and run up middle is in that interview from couple weeks back.. post below for all the people who kept saying we are michigan 2023 :ibis-roflmao-sm3: I know most here dont watch ball so I understand just pulling some random team and thinking we can do that while being completely undisciplined penalized team with defense who lets best players cook. Absolute anti what that team did..

I probably need to go dig up that stupid we are like Michigan '23 thread on CIS and kill it.. Mirabal/Mario have an EXTREME hard on for Harbaugh and Michigan '23. They SWEAR that team was built on their offense (though they did some great things as far as not turning it over) but I know michigan guys and paid attention to them that year, Harbaugh was close to cooked and his brother lent him some coaches and Jesse Minter (Who has #1 D in NFL or close last couple seasons) was the sauce. Along with ******* connor stalions! Lol.. That team NEVER made mistakes, they beat you with mistake free ball.. NEVER turned over or Penalties. McCarthy had 4 picks ALL YEAR.. Beck just had 4 LAST NIGHT.

Listen to Mirabal talk about Michigan in joe moore award interview and they think they can do same thing. Starts at 8:19. The problem is that Michigan team allowed 10 points a game on defense. #1 Pts Defense, #1 TOTAL DEFENSE, #1 Turnover margins, #1 in penalties in nation. Their NFL style defense CHOKED OUT teams allowing them to be plodding on offense.

So these guys are trying to emulate an offense that never made mistakes while we false start every drive and throw picks for fun. No Connor stalion and no Jesse Minter defense.. Good luck.
