Who do you want to be OC next season?

I have a feeling that if Dawson moved on, Mario will circle back on Dorsey. He’s the passing game coordinator for the Cowboys right now.

Find it hard to believe he’s going to get another OC job in the pros, so he might be receptive to running the show down here.

The real question is, do we want him? There is a reason he’s been fired twice. One time….with Josh Allen as his starting QB. That scares me.
Cowboys starting to light it up with the passing game!!

Absolute clown-show way of running things. Also hilarious that anyone would think we could attract a real OC with these types of conditions

Dawson said, "no, a lot of that heavy stuff, you know, Mirabal does a really good job with that. So, you know, he has, all the short yardage stuff and goal line stuff. I just do whatever it is he wants to do, to be honest, in the run game. And we will have some throws out of it and stuff".

Guys, I know this is hard, and most of you have zero listening skills. But Dawson ISN'T saying that Mirabal calls the run plays. The reporter asked Dawson if after the games does he [Dawson] remember some formations that he thinks, "Man, I should have really used that formation", or, "wow, this formation would have been good to try".

And for some reason, Dawson used as an example their short yardage formation/goal line. And Dawson said Mirabal determines which lineman and personnel are used for THOSE instances. Mirabal doesn't call running plays LOL.

That's at the 30:40 min mark. And Dawson continues and says that there is some "special formations" that they carry throughout the season, from week to week that never get used.

There has never been a time, and no one can ever prove otherwise, where a camera panned to the sideline, and Dawson didn't have his playbook wide open, and explicitly calling play into the headset to the QB who is on the field. There has never been a video during the game where either MIrabal or Mario have their offense playbook open, choosing a play, and then speaking that play into the headset relaying it to Beck, Emory, TVD, Jacurri, or Cam.

“Yeah I just do whatever he wants to do to be honest with you - in the run game.”

I dunno he sounds pretty clear in what he said. He was certainly asked about short yardage but it’s really funny how in this next sentence there is no qualifier ie “in the short run game” or the “heavy run game.”

His quote says what it says.

Dawson has his flaws, but the fan base needs to concentrate all their anger against Mirabal, in a history of football, has an offensive coordinator have to answer to the OLINE coach?
Even though it all falls on Mario, I agree we have to run with this. It would also explain the reason that no highly reputable OC would want to work with this staff. We may see Dawson truly thrive as an OC after his departure from here and that would be something.

That's how conversations work, dude. There is a context that is established, and the rest of the rhetoric is said concerning THAT context. the context at 39:40 is formations, and if Dawson looks back at games and says, "we should have ran this formation" or "we should have tried this one". And out of all the formations, Dawson specifically addressed goal line and short yardage and said that Mirabal determines the "toys", meaning which lineman to use on THOSES formations. Mirabal does not call any plays. If you think so, you're stupid. And that may be the case here.

Bold move for calling someone stupid for saying Dawson said what he meant and meant what he said.

“Yeah I just do whatever he wants to do, to be honest with you, in the run game.”

Context could be inferred to narrow the statement, but also the inclusion of “to be honest with you” could be used to broaden the scope of the statement so that he said what he meant and meant what he said in that sentence.

Nobody but Dawson definitely knows that answer.

The context was formations and which “toys” to use on goal line and short yardage/

I’m just waiting on The Who do we replace Hesrherman with after he leaves to take the __________ job. It’s coming. Might already exist for all I know.

Go Canes!

I should caveat what I said- I don’t know for a fact how accurate it is that Mirabal calls the run plays. That’s what I have seen reported here, and as you know the internet never lies.

I don’t understand how the logistics of that would even work. Does Mirabal buzz in and say “I want to run the ball now” and override Dawson? It doesn’t make much sense to me how it could be

I’ve never heard of an Oline coach specifically being responsible for calling run plays over the OC but here we are lol

45 penalties all season? Mario says, "Heck with that! We can get that many in two games!!!?

The cowboys offense is fun this year.
