Who do we want to lose this weekend?

How does bama winning help Miami? If bama losses and has 3 losses albeit one in a corner championship the committee really is going to act Ike the game doesn’t count at all? It’s a free loss? It’s time to end contented championships which is wild to think. This sport is basically amateur nfl and has lost everything about itself
Yea, there’s no way in **** they’re going to leave the SEC Champion runner-up out of the playoff…Sankey would be at the committee’s houses with pitchfork in hand. It’s especially impossible when you factor in that it’s Bama. If it was Vandy, or Missouri in that situation then maybe, but I don’t think it even matters if Georgia blows them out…Bama is IN. It’s hilarious to me though how they had the worst loss of any playoff contending team and people in the media want us to forget all about it, like that loss to Free Shoes doesn’t even exist. See, this is what infuriates me about this entire process, the hypocrisy and double standard applied towards Miami. ALL these other playoff teams can have bad losses, bad games against unranked teams that they barely won, but when it comes to US we’re expected to go undefeated and win by 50 every week. If we do get shafted hopefully our players get the message that it’s us against the world, it always has been. We can’t leave it in the hands of corrupt referees. We can’t leave it in the hands of a bunch of nerds sitting in a boardroom who probably don’t even watch the games. We need to go out each and every week with the mentality that we’re going to obliterate our opponent and take control of our own destiny.

BYU to lose for sure if we want a remote shot. BYU to win if we just want to make sure ND isn’t allowed to ***** us. I’m still unsure on the whole Bama play.

yes. they will drop 1 spot and create a cushion between us and ND. thats the doomsday scenario

So we think the committee will punish BYU for losing their conference championship game but not Alabama?
yes. based on the current rankings, the committee already showed us the answer to this. BYU loses, they drop from 11 to 12 (or 13)
Bama loses, they drop 1 back to 10.

is it right? no. but thats how this is shaping up

I’m sure it’s buried in a thread somewhere but I haven’t dug deep enough to find it, so I ask who do we want to lose (or win same question) for us to get in?

From what I see it’s obviously BYU losing is a no brainer. But I hear different things on the SEC championship game.

I believe that Bama is in regardless. So them winning won’t affect us either way. Should they lose the committee could slide them between ND and us and then we are out. Not sure who would make it between ND and Bama but I don’t really give a **** as it would knock us out. I think Bama winning moves them to the 3-5 range, Georgia could drop to 7. That would put us next to ND for the 10 spot and hopefully the committee puts us in. U know what that means? We go to Athens in the first round (7/10 matchup) and Beck’s return trip to face his former team. You can’t tell me the committee didn’t think about that beforehand and thought of the ratings for that game.

That’s just my idea. I haven’t looked at Georgia’s head to head with the other sec teams so not sure who they would have the head to head wins against to be moved in front of or behind. But I can’t see them pushing Georgia out.

I also don’t think Duke vs Virginia means anything. I have seen people say that if Duke wins then two G5’s get in and the committee will want to put an ACC team in so we are good (still would need BYU to lose) but I don’t believe they would care.

So back to my original question, in everyone else’s eyes on this board, who do we want to lose this weekend?

I’ll hang up and listen
Most obvious IMO is BYU by at least double digits. I believe historically conf champ losers have atleast slide down 1 spot exact tcu a while back so most likely unless its a total nail biter they should slip 1 I think. With that same thinking bama needs to win bc if they were to slip down 1 spot then we are again multiple spots from ND and it sounds like the committee with do everything in their power to avoid the obvious head to head. If bama wins and byu loses and miami ends up side by side w ND I just dont see any way they dont finally do the right thing and weigh head to head as the top factor. Duke winning wouldnt hurt either bc as some have said the acc (p4 conf) being left out entirely in place of to G5 teams would not look good at all

Bama is -1400 to make the playoff right now, and they're an underdog in the game against UGA.

The committee isn't pushing an IN Alabama to OUT by losing a game they earned their way into. Not that team. Not that league.
Only way Bama is left out is if UGA just demolishes them, like a 45-20 UGA win.

BYU, ND, or us for last spot

That’s it

If BYU wins they are in, BYU and us are both +400 on DK

So DraftKings thinks it’s as likely as us getting in as it is for BYU to beat TTU

Yesterday morning we were +650 on DK

BYU has the noon game Saturday so we’ll know early if we have hope … BYU loses by anything close to the 12.5 spread or worse I imagine our odds will skyrocket

If bama wins the following game then I wouldn’t be surprised if we drew even with ND

Texas Tech must beat #11 BYU. That puts us next to ND and then our win counts
Bama losing wouldn’t hurt

BYU has to lose. Duke may need to win. Duke could f a lot of stuff up for everyone.
I think Duke is irrelevant to us. 11 and 12 are already going to be taken by teams not currently in the top 12. We're vying for the 10 spot. I know Pate and some others think that if Duke wins and there will be no ACC representative that the committee would be more willing to put us in so there isn't a P4 conference left out, and maybe that's true.. But I honestly believe the committee couldn't give 2 ***** about the ACC. We need BYU to lose (I believe they'll be blown out) and to amke things easier, need Bama to win so the committee doesn't have an excuse to swap Bama and ND again.

Would love to see Bama and BYU get routed ( Dominated ) and have both Duke and Boise win.
That makes very little sense and would be worse for us. ND beat Boise and bama isn’t out under any circumstance so if they got routed it would give the committee an opportunity to create a buffer between us and ND
