Who are AD names?

The AD hiring process is what worries me the most. Most of those hires aren't done as quickly as a HC. To get feelers now out, someone would have to be going behind Blake's back. Who's that gonna be? Strawley? Frenk? Nobody there now is calling around to replace their friend and/or boss BJ.

If they wait until the end of the season to fire Manny, it makes me think Blake survives. I can't see them firing both and doing a dual search with such a time crunch to get a coach in before signing day. Its hard to believe any decent power 5 name would come in with no AD in place. Mario is not coming here just so they can promote Strawley 30 minutes after he signs.

So guys, if they fire Manny midseason but keep Blake... buckle up. He's going to stick around to sign the guy from the group of 5 school with the smallest buyout.

Hunter Yawrochek was at Houston and hired Sumlin, Herman, and Holgersen, and Pittman at Arkansas, where he was recently hired.

Hired Herman at Houston, hired Rheul to replace Briles at Baylor. Aranda to replace Rheul.

I am too lazy to check, but I believe Yarowchek hired Herman. Rhoades though also hired their BB coach that just won the championship.

Highsmith could walk in to any room and command respect instantly. Not because he’s a former Cane and not because of his past laurels, but because the man is an alpha dog straight to the core. He’s a born leader. Spend 5 minutes with the guy and I guarantee you’ll want to hire him.

He’s not the guy who’s gonna go to ****tail parties and beg for donations…but he’s the guy who’s gonna walk in to a locker room, command respect, and turn around the culture. He’s a program builder AD, and that’s what we need right now…and it has nothing to do with him being a former Cane.

If he won’t ask for donations he’s worthless. It’s a huge part of the job

For me, just the fact that guys like this have been able to identify and land guys who have solid coaching resumes and seem to be on their way up in the market is attractive to me.

We don't have the money or the cache to poach an AD from a top P5 (or even Group of 5) and that's perfectly fine. Boston College hired Ohio State's #2 a few years back (Martin Jarmond) and he hired Hafley while he was there before moving on to UCLA.

Jim Curry from FSU, Scott Carr from UCF (was interim AD there), Chip Howard from UF, Mark Rountree at GT, or Jeff Purtinton at Bama would all be great hires if we are looking regionally

For a Coach, I could see regional guys being a liability, for an AD, not so much.

We have plenty/enough money. To date, we have in general refused to spend it on sports.

I noted most of Rhoades' career has been in Texas and Big 12 country (except a 2 year stint at Akron early in his career, first AD job,) because it has. Another poster mentioned Rhoades has been publicly critical of the OU/TX Big12 mess, so there's that.

The Miami AD job is as different from most schools as the HC job. He might be attracted to the Miami job if he can be sold on its past and future potential, if the financial committments were made. Same as any of the top HCs the CIS Crew has been discussing.

Offer him a Top 5 AD salary and let him say no. Then offer Top 3.

Rhoades would be a walk-off home-run hire, IMO.

And be prepared for Tom Herman as next HC?

Another solid candidate would be Michael Kelly, he's the current AD at USF, was AD at Wake Forest for a number years, was COO of the CFB Playoff, was the lead executive for the 3 different Super Bowl host committees for SB 35 in Tampa Bay, SB 39 in Jacksonville & SB 41 in Miami. He also got the CFBP in Tampa in the 2017 season as the COO of the CFBP committee. He started out as an intern with the Marlins & got his Masters at St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens.

Alonzo Highsmith. Period. We need to stop ****ing around and bring in a proven senior executive with professional sports contacts. And he actually gives a **** about football and athletics in general. Arguably bringing in a new AD at this point is just priority #1. The other sports are suffering as well and we need an adult with passion and contacts. Plus, that might even help us attract better coaching prospects knowing someone like Zo is running Hecht and sitting in the AD seat. He was supposedly interested at some point but we keep stepping on our own junk and refusing to take meaningful action.

Good lord is our fanbase slow. Zo is a very intelligent man, but this "Miami Guy Bro" crap has to end. Hire someone with legitimate experience running a COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT. There's a lot of things an AD has to do that an NFL personnel exec will never deal with. Donor relations, marketing, dealing with sports other than football. This isn't a job for a guy to learn on the fly.

John Currie(Wake Forest)--Wake is a tough gig, and he's made some good hires with Dave Clawson being the best. Has experience dealing with private school issues. Was successful at KSU, which again isn't an easy job.

John Hartwell(Utah State) Dude has made solid hires in multiple sports at Troy(Previous stop),

Mark Coyle(Minnesota)--Multiple solid hires, was at Boise State before Minny.


Now, if the boosters really wanted to go ham, my choice would be:

Mack Rhaodes(Baylor)--Has midmajor experience, has made multiple good hires. That said, is very religious,may not be a good cultural fit at Miami.
