Class of '96
Me too!
Class of '96
Billing these hours should not be a problem for a Miami grad. If you are breathing it should be on someone’s toll, maybe even a couple.
You're too intelligent. Go away.PhD and faculty member.... probably a bunch of my students around on this site
Yes. But that's all I'm saying other than I've been an insane Canesfan much longer than most of you, based on the graduation years. Probably a fan before many of you were born. Not me but I did fight behind enemy lines. Graduated from FSU in 2000. Couldn’t afford THE U. Poor people problems. Wore canes gear throughout my college career.
Any others fight behind enemy lines?
Who are these, faculty?Sara Rushinek - no big shakes.
We've lost a lot of guys, esp DLs, since our great run began about '80:B.S. C/O 98'. In the portal for Ph.D.
Miss Chicken Kitchen. Miss Mahoney and Eaton. Loved the new Wellness Center. Didn't like the crocodiles in the lake. Pi Kappa Alpha were knuckleheads. W. Sapp was a funny guy (still hasn't changed a bit in looks since college). Was on campus the following morning after the Marlin Barnes story. Still remember saying hello to Robert Woodus at the Richter library, and saddened to hear what happen to ValuJet. Witness a group of young women at Eaton appear to falsely accuse Ray Lewis of an incident. The Rock was hogging up the phone at the student union breezeway, next to the pizza place/pool area. I wanted to say something, but didn't. He was a bigger dude then.
Some might say '85 through '91, or '87 thru '91 was better.A glorious time it was. If we only realized then that it wasn't going to last forever.
One of the funniest things ever (in hindsight) were the older guys that were there in 1997 and claimed cred because they "lived through" that 5-6 season.
Was Sonny Lubick still coaching there? I think Urban Myer was on his staff for a while.Colorado state ‘17 grew up in Miami and love the canes more than anything just wanted to leave the crib and see different part of the country
Hmmmmm...... You would fit in very well at certain law firms.
Funny story from some time ago, I’m working out at Hecht Center talking to a friend who had recently started working at one of Miami’s biggest and best law firms. We’re by that row of exercise bikes / elliptical machines. He tells me how he bills for everything and he even bills when he’s taking a s__t. An older gentleman who is exercising on a machine close by then says to us .... you guys do realize that I’m a client of that firm?
Can’t recall exactly what happened after that. I know there was some back tracking comments by my friend and he then promptly left the gym.
We have at least one teammate from that era who is on this board. IdahoCane was on Grassy's board. Another guy from that era.Enrolled at the U in 1966 and graduated 5 years later after taking a year off when I got married. Ted Hendricks (The Mad Stork) was in one of my early classes. So yeah, I’ve been a Cane longer than most of you have been alive. GO CANES!!!!!
When I was working in a NYC law firm, we charged meals, radio cars, etc. to clients. We didn't charge time on the can, though.Excellent story. Given today’s tech, billing on the pot is not a problem. It is the excess of 24 hours a day that is a difficult explanation but not impossible. I’m not practicing today but it would be interesting trying to bill my hours in casino.
Henry King Stanford was not the best guy for the U, but neither was Tad Foote.
A friend of mine who got his master's degree at UM in the '80s told me best place to sit was student section and if you didn't have a ticket just hand $5 to the guy at the gate.Fair enough. It's hard being an older guy on this board, so many of the young ones just remember the more recent run.
When I started at UM, we just had long benches for the student section, no "butt-hugger" seat covers. Didn't even have a magnetic strip on our Cane cards (didn't have a Cane card), you just flashed your student ID. Student section was way over-packed with students and their friends, family, and anyone else you could jam through the gate.
I know a lot of folks tailgated in people's yards, but I was fortunate enough to have fraternity alums with parking in one of the OB lots. I have hazy memories of certain games due to massive inebriation. Two consecutive Student Government presidents (Joe Garcia and Bill Barzee) were arrested by the Miami cops in 1986 and 1987, and Bill Barzee was beaten up (his mug shot graced the front page of The Miami Hurricane).
Good times.
Is it true Foote had a drinking problem? (although I"m not down on him for such a medical issue.)Agree with that, particularly Dr. Foote. He didn't like anything about football and hated JJ.
Many of the worst people I've met are lawyers...and I'm a lawyer.I’m grown. With my soul intact.

**** Sorensen from that era does not post (to my knowledge) but I stay in touch with him since he's in the D.C. area like I am. His son is now secondary coach for the Seahawks.
One of my favorite eras was the late '60's.
