That's very unfair to Bauman, who just an average college player. DNO was a multi year bonehead who thought he was the smartest guy in the room and never made adjustments. Thought 11 20 year olds would be in the right place every second for his wonderful defense. Truly in a clueless class by himself.
 
Didn’t want to bring the blocked punt back up but just caught some of the OSU/Cotton Bowl on ACC Network replay and I couldn’t believe my eyes.
On our last punt before halftime(1:30 left) Bauman does the same thing and punt is nearly blocked.
Someone, besides Indiana coaches, should’ve picked up on it.

I get it. Maybe I am being unfair, but he chose a profession where you are not allowed to have an off day. Every time you step on the that field/court the expectation is 100%. It sucks, but that’s sports. Unless you are injured, you are expected to perform at 100%.

I can live with it if he gave his all and got beat. But that Natty block was lazy. That doesn’t sit right with my soul.
 
We’d be better off using 10 players than having Bauman so I’m not too worried

Lofton only played 451 snaps. And 210 to Bauman’s 361 run blocking snaps. Hes 6’3 242. He’s not a Y. He’ll play in 2 te or anything that doesn’t require a large being to block or give the appearance of blocking.

Who’s going to be the 6th olineman, so to speak? 700 snaps is a large hole to fill

He got paid good money to play football in college. He deserves all the **** thrown his way for the **** poor effort in the biggest game of his career.

I think we will use lofton as a fb tho with more insert runs, some of the 11p will be more like 22p
 
If you think of the offense more in 2024 terms and less like 2025, it’s not nearly as big of a deal. Arroyo wasn’t exactly a knock back blocker. In short yardage situations we would lean on guys who weren’t really a threat to catch the ball like Cam McCormick. As long as they’re not counting on Lofton being a great blocker, he’s more than capable of doing what Arroyo did. In short yardage run out an extra lineman to team with Luka Gilbert

Yea arroyo wasn’t a knock back blocker but he was a very good inline blocker. No one is saying we need a gronk level blocker lol, but literally all real non gimmicky offenses in college and the nfl need good inline blockers. It’s essential to every scheme

Apart of what made the 24 offense special was arroyo was a good inline blocker AND a great receiver so we didn’t have to sub to run our entire scheme that is hard to gameplan for

McCormick was a good inline blocker too for 12p but we weren’t compromised by basically putting a 6th olineman in because arroyo as a great receiving threat so our 12p could easily be used like our 11p in the pass game but with two good blockers we now have the advantage in the run game so you had to pick your poison

That layer of versatility made it **** to gameplan against us, think bowers & washington for uga in 2023 i think

Dawson isn’t just gonna throw out his entire scheme in a year lol, he will make some adjustments im sure but someone has to step up in that role for the max potential of the offense
