Where is the Gators hype coming from?

THIS. Lagway turned what could have been a disastrous season into a "future is bright" season. But he is crazy inconsistent and now every DC has his film and knows his tendencies. Plus his surrounding cast is worse. I'm expecting a Sophomore slump not a leap and that he'll lose games trying to do too much and coughing the ball up. Assuming he is even capable of playing effectively. Sounds like he's throwing now, but still in bubble wrap.
Them fans in trouble if they think he’s a “savior” type qb. He just isn’t that and they putting to much pressure on him pause. He’s going to fold sometimes under those lights and the fans want wins. Too much to overcome for one guy, he isn’t that type of qb. He’s maybe like an EJ Manuel or some ****, they got the tools but the roster has to carry them. They going to find out especially under that type of scheddy?……if I was a gator fan a logical one not a homer, I wouldn’t expect some crazy *** season.

Lagway can't even stay healthy. Has had some flashes, but overall I'd be nervous as **** if he's the real deal or not... stats are putrid...

I agree but I think it’s the following.

Lagway
They return the left side of their line which was solid in LT Austin Barber, LG Knijah Harris, and C Jake Slaughter who was an AA last year.
They have two backs that looked good last year in Jaden Baugh and Jakobi Jackson
They have some young pup WRs in Wilson, Brown, and Montgomery to pair with Sturdivant, Mizell (deep threat and lagways go to), and a healthy Tre Wilson.
They return Caleb Banks, George Gumbs, and Tyreak Sapp on their dline that finished last year strong.
The coaching staff includes a new OC but Billy is still calling plays and they got rid of the tool shed DC and have now Robert’s calling the shots with two former Saban assistants as Co-DCs.

They are also excited about Grayson Howard, Shariff Denson, Lj McCray, Cormani, and LBs Aaron Gates and Aaron Chiles that are in the mold of Bobby Pruitt.

Also, there’s also a 99% chance Marco Rubio will be in the stadium supporting his son who is a walk on at UF and may try to pull some political shenanigans now that he’s Secretary of State.

We can’t take them lightly, but that’s where this hype is coming from.
With all due respect, this is mostly just a list of returning players. And after what I saw of their team last season, other than the RB who broke a long run, and Wilson, there was no one on that team who we would want. Literally. UM out classed UF at every single position from QB to PK.

I’m not saying they are bad, but just similar to so many teams in CFB that it’s hard to understand the “excitement”. I feel like UM fans are much more reserved about our team than UF fans are about theirs.

I'm more concerned with Baugh than I am with Lagway. Lagway's most dangerous assets is his legs running more so than passing. Baugh is a bull. Hopefully we're prepared better to stop the run this year by that game.

If you hung out on **** Tears like some of us you’d know that the hype is just that HYPE. They think Lagway is the second coming of Patrick Mahomes ( albeit a left handed one ) but they don’t even know how good his arm is going to be cause he can’t even throw full out yet I don’t think. They think every player they have because they are SEC SEC SEC is an AA in waiting.
So you take the greatest QB CFB has ever seen ( according to them) and add in 21 other potential AA as their other starters and you get **** HYPE at its best.
Oh I forgot the greatest offensive mind ever to grace the SL’s as their HC

See how that works?

I’m struggling to see the vision here. DJ Lagway is a legitimate talent, but they’ve added nobody and lost a lot.

The only blue-chip transfer they added (J. Michael Sturdivant) is a fifth-year player with a career high of 755 yards in 2022. They lost four blue-chip transfers up front (Pyburn, Searcy, Collins, Robinson) and another blue-chip corner transfer (Jackson). They also lost 7 players to the draft.

What is the argument they’ll be good?
SEC hype machine plus 5 star QB.

B/c they ended the season a 4 game winning streak that included beating one top 25 team & one top 10 team. It’s called momentum.

I get that, but the momentum stopped cold in the offseason.

They had one of the smallest Portal classes in the country with only six kids. It's also one of the worst classes in the country.

Those six additions include a backup quarterback, a punter, a glorified walk-on safety. a rotational DB, and a UMass EDGE with three sacks. The only good player they added was the #25 WR in the Portal.

Conversely, they lost seven players to the draft (tied for 6th-most nationally). That doesn't even include their leading receiver (Elijah Badger) and most explosive running back (Montrell Johnson). They also lost 23 players to the Portal, including five blue-chip transfers.

It's one thing to avoid the Portal if you're stacking Top 5 classes like Georgia and Texas. But they finished 18th in 2022 and 13th in 2023-2024.

Are they good enough to beat us? Of course. But when you look at the net loss of talent, it makes sense that Vegas is more pessimistic than the media.

Here’s the thing about the turds and their starting quarterback, supposedly he needs surgery, which has been postponed. Of course, I don’t know the specific details of his injury and it’s severity, but if he needs surgery, it must be significant.

So they are going into the season with an injured quarterback, who may not even last their 12 games, and I have no idea who they have behind him.

It could turn really bad, really fast, it’s already a ****** situation for them, which could easily get much worse.

AND I’M HERE FOR IT.
