Where is everyone located?

St. Francis was on Allison across the street from the gated community. Really good high school friend lived there. Used to go to La Gorce with them all the time.
I had some friends on Allison too. We weren't allowed in LaGorce CC back when I was a kid as it was restricted (for Jews) still. Now my Uncle is a member. Things have changed there for sure.

Feller was a 6th grade teacher still when I was there. Lou Singer was a nice guy. He would go to Beth Sholom sometimes, where I had my Bar Mitzvah. I know you remember Moderne Pharmacy. Was Stan's there too then, on the Beth Sholom side of 41st Street?

The pharmacy was on the east side of North Beach Elementary. Not sure if it was called Moderne back then. My dad would pick me up from Flamingo Park after Optimist football practice and we would have dinner there every Wednesday. It had a little diner and a really good T-bone. Don't remember Stan's. Old movie theater was across the street. WQAM used to be in the building to the west of North Beach on the north side of 41st. If your mom went to Beach, then she would remember Vic Vagotis and of course Skip Bertman. Skip's last year I was in 9th grade at Nautilus. Steve Lerner and Howie Shapiro were the guys when we lost at States. Howie also played quarterback when we lost to Tallahassee Leon in the finals. Both played for Ron. Howie played shortstop at Beach, but second base at Miami. Lerner was the ace at both Beach and Miami. Modeled my curveball after Steve's. He threw the best hook I've seen.

Skip Bertman was my dad's fraternity brother at UM. I remember Howie Shapiro. I was way younger. Coach Newton was the guy at North Shore Optimist when I was a kid. I was class of 84. I think you went to Beach with my cousins. I remember QAM there before they were sports. It's now the Steinberg law building. The Roosevelt Theater is vacant and across the street.

I was class of 78. All my Optimist coaches were forgettable. LoL. Played Little League at Flamingo Park. Skip ran the program. Night league basketball at Ida Fisher.

Yeah, it was restricted. No worries, all my ****** friends were members of Westwood. Best high school punter I ever saw was Marshall Levy. Led nation in punting as a high school senior at 48 yards. Unbelievable leg. He ended up at Florida and quit because Doug ****ey was anti-Semitic. Yet another reason to hate ****ey. Beach had the best kicking in the country the year they lost in the finals. Greg Willner ended up at Michigan. Good career but he had the distinction of having a chance to beat Ohio State twice, but missed long field goal attempts his junior and senior years. Felt really bad for him. I'd run into him at North Shore Park and I'd hold for him when he came home for winter break.

You went to Beach with two of my cousins. We can talk offline. Too bad you're leaving the DMV now that I'm back in Frederick. I remember Gene Attics was a great athlete...the best I remember at Polo Park. I was a young kid when he'd play in games there. I was in Royal Palm. They were around when you were there.

That's cool! Andy Diamond was a coach at North Shore. Coached me in soccer in 7th grade there. Polo Park coaches were Marty Drucker and Jerry Goldstein, the latter being a certifiable loon.

Thanks... Should o be worried at the post number that was for you. I screenshot it... Think of Damien.

MATADOR, do you remember John O'Day? He was on that team also. He and wife, Cookie, still live in the Gables. Our son received a scholarship in 1983 & played football for UCF under Coach Lou Saban who, by the way, told us that Miami was the only place he regreted leaving. We looked on the freshman roster and saw the name John O'Day.....Jr. Yes, it was John's son and he and our son became good friends (and still are) and their initial bonding was the fact that their fathers played together at Miami.

BTW, the following year, Coach Saban introduced O.J. Simpson @ the Hall of Fame induction in Canton, Ohio and my husband and I attended & met up with him and he introduced us to both O.J. and Joe Willie Namath. Also later met Roger Staubach. Fantastic day.

I assume your initials are GM? Correct?

Born in PR, moved here when I was 13, lived in South Florida ever since (Mostly Westchester CP c/o 95)
