When Oregon loses to Stanford?

Look at what Shaw has done at Stanford over the long haul. Keeping them in the Top 25 is a fools errand, because you have such a narrow margin for error. Think about it, Stanford compared to a school like USC, you are competing against a team that can recruit anyone they want. Stanford can at best recruit maybe 10-15% of the ESPN 300 and that's in a good year. Even if they hit a good percentage of that, they are hoping that none of them wash out.

That programs practically dead right now. Idk how much I really want to huff his undercarriage. Yeah he’s at a disadvantage but still can say with confidence he’s an NFL coach while they’re basically a nothing team. And Mario doesn’t really have the juice to take this program to the top. Too many bad losses every season he’s coached but 19 with Herbert.

Mario just corched that ending...but the refs were also trash
It shouldn't have been that close to begin with. Mario got outcoached, by a guy that gets the most out of his guys. David Shaw, despite having some hiccups of late is a guy that is an NFL coach coaching at a place that has a definitive ceiling.

Would Mario be an upgrade over Manny at Miami? Yes, but let's be honest: He is a guy that relies on outtalenting everyone and it's tougher to do that at Miami, when you don't have Nike money to work with. If you are going to spend the money needed to get Mario to Miami, you can do significantly better with that money. He's going to expect Dabo level money, and honestly, he isn't a complete enough coach to justify that.

I'd take Shaw at Miami. There is ZERO % chance of that happening. Shaw's a Stanford-lifer, one of highest paid HCs in the PAC12. No reason to leave unless he decides to take an NFL job.

To go 93-38 at STANFORD over the course of a decade, with 7 seasons with nine wins or more is beyond impressive. He has had ONE losing season in that span, at a school that is at a competitive disadvantage with **** near everyone in the conference. Yes, he isn't as hot of a commodity as he was 5 years ago, but the record speaks for itself.

Saw the game. It is a bad loss. No excuses. That Oregon defense is soft and yes, I realize that they had several key injuries to deal with. But ultimately, their office fell asleep at the worst possible time. I’m bad playcalling in the last couple of minutes and the game was atrocious. And those calls I thought point in the game need to be reviewed and or approved by the head coach.

I still like him. I just don’t think he’s coming. I would take Shaw in .00003 seconds. But he’s a Stanford man and future NFLer.

Live look at mario interacting with CIS.

Wait so now we want David shaw right ?
I would take Shaw at Miami, provided we provided him with a budget needed to get the assistants he needs. At least you'll have a consistent, hard nosed product. I have always wondered what Shaw could do with the ability to actually recruit. He has never been able to recruit at a high level, because you can't at Stanford.
