What's your short list look like? Golden replacements

And, importantly, everyone (fans, former players, recruits, HS coaches) would buy in because of his past success in building the machine that was early 2000s UM football.

This may sound trivial, but I don't think it is. The "U Part 2" is set to air on December 13th. It will highlight Butch's construction of a dynasty. That's the same day Golden was hired four years ago, and would be around the time Butch would be hired.

The timing is almost too perfect when it comes to establishing credibility with the players, recruits, younger fans, and the national consciousness.

That gives me chills man. I want us to be great again so badly. Butch is the best way forward.

This will absolutely never happen, but I wish Gary Patterson, **** Bumpus and Co. come on down.

Chudziniski - most realistic that he'll leave Indy as a special assistant. Former player/coach and knows the area for recruiting.

Mark Stoops - most likely won't leave the SEC or Kentucky this soon. Plus if he can turn Kentucky around his name will grow more popular for the bigger programs.

Narduzzi - not sure what he makes now, but I'd imagine he wouldn't make the move to Miami based on salary.

It's amazing to me that some of you guys have Schiano on your lists. We'd be a little better off but would never come close to the playoffs.

I'm not sure I'm really sold on Butch. Yes he's a fantastic recruiter, but I'm not sure talent is the problem now. We need a guy that can coach X's and O's, utilize the talent we have and get out there on game day and show some ********s.

A lot of delusions in this thread. You guys better dig in deep and realize it's either Golden or a re-tread. Wannstedt is a more likely option than some of your candidates.

At this point, I'd take a paper bag. All joking aside, I honestly think a paper bag couldn't be any worse at calling a defense than these two ass****s.

I initially thought after Louisville, wait till the end of the season to fire Golden, but **** that. It needs to be done immediately. If they don't fire Golden soon, there is absolutely no reason to believe that this admin's next hire will be a competent coach. It'll end up being the guy from San Jose state, middle Tenn state, or ****** state.

You left out development. It is not just recruiting, we haven't developed the talent in some time. Butch was tremendous at development.

To **** with it I'd take Leach at this point, at least we'd be scoring 60+ a game and it would be entertaining.

For all his shortcomings as a gameday coach, look to his talent development and coaching hires. He had a handful of guys under him that went on to make major moves in the football coaching world. Golden recruits pretty well, but doesn't develop talent for ****. Part of what makes Butch great at recruiting is that the players he gets, he turns into first rounders. They don't all come NFL ready

Anybody that thinks Stoops wouldn't leave UK for UM is smoking crack. He's coached here and knows the ceiling, Kentucky will always be Kentucky.
