What's the worst that can happen?

Do actually want to risk losing more recruits, waiting until the end of the season
to get rejected by Fuente and Herman?

Hire Butch now and stabilize the class and maybe add some we wouldn't with
this sh@tty staff. We cannot afford to wait around and watch the program
burn to the ground.

I know people want to wait and go through the process, but ask yourself this,
is waiting on those coaches worth mortgaging the future of our program when we
can already have a coach who understands the U and is dying to redeem himself
and resurrect our once proud program?

Houston's last regular season game is in twelve days. You wait to interview the guy. Nothing is going to happen in twelve days that can't be undone. If it doesn't work out, Butch still has two months til signing day.
 
I'm cool with Butch, but don't give me that "understands the U" crap. Know who else understands? Randy. And Mario. And Coker. If they've decided on Butch then by all means, announce it tomorrow and lets get to work. But on the off chance they're going to actually engage in some sort of "process", lets give it a minute. Just because you're impatient (and I am too) doesn't mean a quick hire is the best idea. And, no offense, Butch isn't going anywhere.
 
I agree. You know what you're getting with Butch, both Fuente and Herman are first time coaches just like Golden was at Temple.
Aren't we better off with an experienced Coach and one willing to groom his eventual replacement in Cristobal. As you said we could save our recruiting class and possibly add to the class right away.

Hopefully the people running the search have steadier nerves than the OP.
Take your time and do it right.
 
Wait until the season is over and interview Herman and Fuente - if they say no then get Butch.

We can risk a recruiting class going south because this is a program-defining hire that we have to get right.

This guy is almost as big a fraud as golden

2 months for signing day but just 21 days to sign Shaq and mike ... get Zach back and convince Jack Allison to stay

We will be fine. Hiring butch now would he a mistake. Butch wont wont take another job until we tell him no. Best to vet all candidates first. Herman is different than golden he was the cordinator of one of the best coaches in CFB can't even deny it anymore. Golden was DC to a guy who got fired every where he coached....

As far as recruits go think about it this way. Golden was a .500 coach. Even if not fired I wpuld expect our record to be the same as it will finish which is around .500 . If those kids would have stuck around fir that. They will stick for the new coach.
