What's needed to save the season

Stop.
Losing to Duke did not get D’Onofrio or Golden fired.

Losing to FIU, La. Tech, and everyone else did not get Diaz fired.

Miami has not and will not fire a coach before he finishes his 4th season.

Mario’s dream job *was* Miami once upon a time. However, he’s got a great thing going at Oregon, great pay, and job security. It’s true that him and his wife’s families are all in Miami, and that’s a big pull. He’s also interviewed for the job three times: 2006, 2010, and 2015. Overall, there’s a chance we could pull him, but if Oregon ends up going to the CFP and having a great year I doubt it. We can’t outgun them on salary or resources.
You speak the truth, what will get Mario is this and only this.

Call him make him the highest paid coach PERIOD, give him ( GIVE) him a house Gables By the Sea house GIVE I said including paying his property taxes in CG.

Everything FREE EVERYTHING cars , travel A FREE , including a unlimited credit card balance for his wife to seal the deal.

Other then this Mario is staying at Ducks.

OMG...... some people are impossible. Are you a member of the Cristobal family? When was the last time you spoke to Mario??. This is a reason why I've been a member since 2012 with such a low post count. Its pointless to contribute here

Nobody wants to hear this but the odds are greater that Manny turns the program around than the odds of finding a coach that will come in and make Miami a playoff team. That is not a endorsement of Manny but more of a reality check of how hard it is to find a good coach, especially at a school like Miami.

The grass is always greener but there's only about 5 green lawns in the entire development.
especially true if you consider who’s doing the hiring at UM.

That’s they type of move you make for 55 year old nick saban

Even Saban couldn’t deal with the fair weather delusional fans of south Florida and packed up his **** to head back to the more understanding hillbillies of Alabama

Save the season?

Go 9-3, win your bowl game and get us to 10 wins. And do the following:

Lashlee show you aren’t a stubborn son of a ***** and make adjustments.

Diaz show you aren’t a stubborn son of a ***** and make adjustments.

Diaz learn how to have your team prepared to play football from the opening whistle.

Diaz enough with the seniority bull****.

all of this is still possible but I just don’t see the coaches changing their ways.

Having a losing season may ultimately be the greater good as it gets Mario here. But as a fan, I still cling to the hope we win the Coastal, maybe even the ACCC, and that Manny goes on to hire an Aranda-level DC during the off season and becomes a legendary head coach.

Here are the minimum changes he needs to make to have any chance of a future at Miami:

The Low Hanging Fruit:
* Get the ball out sooner, no more slow developing RPOs or checkdowns. More slants, timing routes and pre-snap movement so guys are in gear and running downhill when King takes the snap
* More multiple sets on offense. We're way too predictable
* CBs playing aggressive press to add another body in the box
* DTs and DEs having gap integrity responsibility on more snaps. It's fine to stunt and crash down, but sometimes lining up and punishing the guy across from you works, certainly it frees up the LBs.
* Play the freshman now.
-- Move Carter and Chase Smith to start at LB, with Cave coming in when a MLB is needed. Flagg and Jennings should never see another meaningful snap. Steed is a good substitute.
-- Have Gil and James Williams split reps at Striker
-- Have Kinchens taking more and more of Hall's reps
-- C Brown and Knighton need to split reps with Cam, whoever has the hot hand gets the most reps.
-- Use the freshmen WRs in 4/5-WR sets and actually target them on certain package plays
-- Arroyo splits reps with Mallory. He's already the better blocker, and looks like he'll fight for the ball more, too

The hard fixes:
* Do whatever it takes to improve tackling
* Do whatever it takes to improve special teams coverage units
* WRs need to practice blocking because they're horrific
* Get the OL to work as a group. Most of the breakdowns are mental not physical. Gaynor gets roughed up sometimes. But usually it's just bad coordination leaving a man unblocked.

If Manny survives to the offseason, hire a DC, replace Patke, take a very hard look at Justice.
U really think that guy sits Flagg and Jennings? Replace Simpson as well

I agree with everything you said except partially, we have to improve the OL for any of the back to show their skills. Play Garcia! King is not a QB.

Mario ain't coming here gott**** y'all need to drop this fantasy.

We had our chance and flake ruined it with his 4 hr abortion of a search. He's got his guys at Oregon that he's recruited (with plenty of talent too), is looking like a playoff contender if he can take care of business this season in the PAC, and is being paid pretty well. Not to mention Oregon will outbid us for whatever we offer.
