From 2009 through 2012 Texas signed 8 five stars and 60 four stars. According to Rivals, they were ranked 5, 3, 3, and 2 in those four years. Texas defense flopped in 2012, and Diaz was fired two games into 2013. So, I'm honestly puzzled how they ended up with a lack of talent.

As I was saying I think Manny Diaz failed at Texas nc Mack Brown was failing during that time.. Leadership and direction sucked. Mack was being surpassed by TCU Baylor and Texas A&M. If he doesn't live up to expectations he will be fired and replaced simple as that... The defense is automatically going to be better than anyone we have fielded in the last 4 - 5 years. Rinse, wash, repeat. The Texas results don't match the desired narrative so the masses are trying to come up with explanations to discount it and wash it away. "Diaz didn't have talent at Texas, they were headed downhill." And then immediately contradict themselves by pointing out how well he did as Miss St with no talent.

Truth is no one ******* knows. Diaz isn't as popular a hire as some of the other assistants, for good reason. His defenses have struggled against good teams at every stop. If things go well, he'll have access to more talent than he's ever coached. We will find out over the next three years whether he's good, bad, or mediocre.
