Seeing a common theme recently with kids who have the opportunity to play for the home school going else where. You see grown *** folks in SoFla pimpin kids for their own gain without thinking whats best for said kid and other such shadyness. These 7on7 camps will only make it worse. You already see Dixon talkin stupid about he and Cooper.

If what I'm hearing about Waters, Burgess and K. Brown heading up to Louisville are true along with some of the other bigger fish (Bush and Howard) possibly going SEC....well I hope that none of these kids talk about reppin the 305 because they wont be.

I passed through a couple hoods yesterday in Miami...

Didn't see any gator shirts. No Noles hats. What I did see is plenty of Cane gear.

Something ain't right. At least Dukes gets it

Gotta start back winning...When Miami was on top of the college football world there wasn't a player out of S. Fl Miami couldn't get...Times changed since those days and other teams particularly the ones in the SEC rose to the top. Now all you hear about is the SEC this the SEC that and alot of S. Fl talent want to go where teams are winning and fans are packing the stadiums. Once Miami starts back winning these kids will realize they won't have to go far to win national championships right now its not that way so they are bolting to other top programs...Golden's going to get it done

What I don't get is, why is the perception around FSU seem to be different when they been just as mediocre?

Miami has no one to blame but themselves.

The last time the school was relevant, these kids were 7/8 years old.

The school and administration let the team down.. UM had won 5 titles with 4 different coaches and they just thought they could get anybody to coach. Got cheap and thought anybody could win with south Florida players and assistant unproven coaches. They half assed it. Snooty attitude about having higher standards getting football players in does not help. It is football, not organic chemistry. Other schools want it more and will do anything. Got to want it at all levels to win from the top to the field. LSU gets it. Alabama gets it. USC gets it and so on. Look at Oklahoma State and Oregon as well. These school's administration love their team. They want winners. Look at what they are doing different. Makes a big difference. The coach can only do so much. UM front office seems like football is no big deal since the last title until they went out and got Golden.

It's south Florida.

SoCal kids don't ditch out on USC. Kids in Alabama never leave the state, whether it's Bama or Auburn. LSU gets on the Louisiana kids they want. You know how Texas does. Somehow Richt still manages to keep kids home in Georgia.

But it's something about SoFla where these fools seem to have no loyalty to the hometown team.

i mean, they can go where they want to , but if im a college athlete and my hometown team is struggling, im trying to get all the big timers from down there to team up with me and go put the school back on the map....you know, actually accomplish something

but that's just me

Bingo ! You snooze, you lose

Listen, I'm gonna be real here for a minute.

We're all a bunch of damned hypocrites.

Whenever we are looking at an out-of-state kid and there is an interview with ol boy saying something about wanting to stay home, the threads are littered with jargon that may resemble the following:

"Stop sucking on your mother's teet and be a grown *** man!"
"Who wants to play in the snow? Come take your talents to Souf Beach!"
"Program ___________ has been crap for years! Have fun playing in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl, loser!"

But here is a dose of reality.

- Miami sucks right now...we've been irrelevant nationally for **** near a decade...and not only irrelevant, but incompetent.
- We are chin deep in the middle of an NCAA investigation and surely sanctions are coming down in some regard.

Both of those tell me, our brand is severely damaged not just nationally, but locally. Our relationships with local schools was damaged under the last two regimes.

- The SEC and other heavy hitters in the recruiting game smell blood in the water and considering their proximity to the "State of Miami" and the money they have available to them make them an active participant in any and all top players in the area, many times bidding against each other.

The way we need to get back in the game is simple.

Good ole fashioned hard work.

In the short term, the bad news is we are going to lose out on some heavy hitters locally. In that short term, the good news is South Florida is the most talent rich area in the country and even if you miss out on the super stud 5* kid that is going to be a Top 5 NFL Draft pick there is an All-Conference kid and future NFL player that is out there getting recruited by Purdue or Wake Forest or something that's 5 miles away.

That is why it is important to have yourself a top flight recruiter, evaluator, and coaching staff in place. We aren't going to get back to the top by winning ****ing contests with LSU and Alabama for NFL prospects. We'll lose out on 8 out of 10 players. We need to make sure that those 2 are studs, and that is down to being down for his city and his school. Think...Duke Johnson...or for you old heads, Lester Williams. Then you need to make sure you have a firm grasp on all of the other talent locally, regardless of size, speed, or any other SPARQ numbers, that they can play. This program was built on local boys being down for their city, their school regardless of anything else. Evaluate and coach up what you DO get, and worry less about what you don't get, and you'll be fine.

ShanCoker failed because they were awful eyes for talent and even worse at developing whatever talent they did have and the end result was a complete breakdown of the amazing culture that was developed at Miami. You gotta start re-building that culture and it'll start by getting those boys you don't expect Miami to grab since we haven't had to grab these types of kids in 30 years.

This is partially accurate. But when Coker and RS got their contracts extended, they were not "cheap." The thinking was, I believe, that continuity trumped experience. It's a little astounding to think our 3 prior coaches before AG were all rookies. We struck gold with Butch, but then the last 2 looked like rookie coaches. Dudes are not supposed to cut their teeth at a gig as high caliber as UM (**couch UF Muschamp cough cough**) "Up and comers" like turner Gill or Mario Cristobal going in to developing mid-majors makes more sense. And keep in mind with Coker, the other choice was Barry Alvarez, which for some reason our fan base was livid about. Not to mention just about all our rising seniors in 2000 marched into Paul Dee's office and demanded Coker get the gig or they would transfer or leave to the NFL. Now they probably really wouldn't have, but it still made an impression.

As for the idea the admin doesn't care, it's just not true. I know we like to paint Donna as the villain, but if Butch doesn't pack up and let his ego lead his career into obscurity and scandal, we probably polishing another 4 or 5 NC trophies and DS is the model president for football and academics. When replacing Coker, there wasn't a great list of potential candidates lining up for the gig, and despite what you've heard Mike Leach DID show up drunk to his interview. (yes, actually, for reals). Donna does want to win, and she is not afraid to spend. No she's not going to lower the bar to get another 1 or 2 borderline kids admitted, but if you think our problem is not getting one or 2 borderline kids a year with questionable grades, you're kidding yourself.

Great thread!

"MIAMI isn't MIAMI anymore" dangelo hall

No stadium. (****** turds celebrated their nc on MIAMI's field!)
Nobody goes to the games.
Barely over .500 winning % the last five years.
No bowl win in years.
the $ec

It's going to take a special kind of player to come.
