What year is Mario seriously on the hot seat?

We’ll be saying that every year for at 4 more years no matter if he continues to be inept at what he does….

Right now it looks like he’s pulled off a huge heist…
I disagree. I see what he is building. Future looks very bright and believe we will improve. 2025 and 2026 we will be absolutely loaded. At that point, all the rooms (especially the QB room ) will be entirely different.

You’re entitled to your opinion, though. I can’t nor want to defend some of the decisions Mario has made this year.

Not talking **** to you but cultural fit is the most overused talking point with Miami imo. Kids just want you to develop them and win, anything else is icing on the cake.
Yea I agree. I’m mostly talking UM’s admin. OSU give a lot of leeway to Gundy with his behavior that I don’t know UM would. Winning cures everything though so maybe there’s a chance we look at him.

You are entitled to yours as well. Won’t argue against the possibility it all works out.

Personally, I struggle to see exactly what he’s building, and even more so, struggle to see how his inability to separate himself from offensive playcalling influences will lead us to long-term success.

This recruiting class (as of right now) surely ain’t it. We will not be loaded in 2025 without dominating the portal + a top 10 ‘24 class and a top 5 ‘25 class.

You see miami paying 2 large salaries?
No I think this would need to be Mario having a come to Jesus moment to realize he’s not the guy. But Mario loves UM so maybe he’ll take a huge pay cut to still help the program succeed.

I’m thinking like a fulmer role with Tennessee except he could focus on what he does best - recruiting.

No one has any idea what the roster will look like in 2026.

Let’s play out a scenario.

Let’s say Mario goes 6-7 this year (end the year on a four game losing streak)

That leaves his overall record at 11-14. Now let’s say he finishes 2024 8-5. That leaves him at 19-19 over his first three seasons. A that point, he’d be on the hot seat. Anything less than 9-3/10-2 in 2025 would mean 2026 is do or die.

Boosters gonna pay a $50M+ buyout? Lol no. And Mario aint denying the buyout money like Richt did.

Assuming, as I do, that this thing isn't going to get any better. This appears to be the Titanic halfway to hitting the iceberg. Another epic failed head coaching hire but with serious dollar ramifications.

I believe the Hot Seat starts in Year 3 in the second half of the season, he continues on through Year 4 and 5. Then there is a mutiny among fans, donors, etc.

A buyout IMO is a forgone conclusion.

Then rinse and repeat the next Miami player/assistant coach hire. The [BGCOLOR=initial]only exception to this is that I would wholeheartedly welcome an interview with Rhett Lashlee.[/BGCOLOR]

agree, it starts during season 3. We need to be one of the top ACC teams and not just fighting for lives in the mid table

I think the jury’s out on whether he succeeds here or not. Fact is, a lot of coaches turn the corner year 3 (e.g., Steve Sarkisian, James Franklin, Mike Norvell, etc.). He’s made some terrible decisions though (initial coordinator hires, sticking with TVD, not getting a transfer QB in the portal, etc.)

I think this fanbase doesn’t give itself enough credit. He’s already lost a large chunk of the fanbase 2 years in. That’s a very big deal. You don’t survive that here with what is already a tiny fanbase.

He’s the worst gameday head coach in the country so more stupid **** is a given every Saturday. It will not get any better… and he will lose more fans because of it.

He’s toast. All the talent in the world can’t save this guy. 2026 is the year he’s gone imo. We should close the doors on the football that day as well.

Columbus bro’s can’t save the dude’s stubbornness and incompetence

I agree. I don’t see it either but I don’t want to start all over again already. I’m holding out hope that Mario fires himself in theory and hires a new laissez faire version of himself when it comes to game day decisions and offensive game planning/philosophy. If he loves the U as much as I believe he does then eventually he will realize that’s the only way to bring success to the U with him as the head coach.

I will say this.. I think Mario will get us to a 9 to 10 wins a year team. But that’s the ceiling.

He’s an elite recruiter. So this roster will get better. He’ll win games based off talent alone.

I think the only thing that could push us to being one of the top teams year in and out.. will be the QB position.

In his time as HC, he hasn’t been good at bringing in QBs, and they seem to regress while under him
