What was your most disappointing loss/hardest-to-take loss as a Canes fan?

I think the FIU game was up there. Not as bad but it also felt like another one of those moments where we were never going to recover.

Or I suppose FIU just felt like a reminder we would never be “back”. I’ve never been as flat out angry (I try not to do that to myself with sports anymore) as I was after FIU.

FIU was the most insane consortium of emotions I've ever had watching a game.

The entire time I kept waiting for Miami to start playing like the better team & every single time when we were supposed to get our *** in gear the players just did something completely re-tarded.

It was one of the wildest games I ever seen because, in the moment you couldn't tell what was happening with our guys, but something was completely off.

I've rewatched that game several times since it happened & it is absolutely unquestionable most of the Defense was drunk/hung over & Jarren Williams was undoubtedly high, on something.

It was the most bizarre game I've ever played back on film, because it wasn't like a lot of upsets where guys just quit & you can see they just don't wanna be there. This game they were actually trying! They just couldn't do anything because they were all inebriated.

I'm not even being funny, if you can stomach it, rewatch the game & look, the whole team was fuxked up.

I remember getting really mad because FIU kept faking injuries

And then I got more mad because I was actually complaining and being mad about FIU faking injuries

Close second was East Carolina in 1999 after almost beating #3 Penn State the week prior.

I was at the Ohio State Fiesta Bowl and Indiana game and they definitely hurt but it's tough to say it's the worst when you made the championship game. The real hurt comes from the realization that you're not going to be good when you think you are. In 2003 there was that realization that this all might be over (which was accurate lol) and in 1999 it seemed we'd never make it back to the top.

That's how I felt after the UNC game in 04 and definitely after the final game in the OB.

Losing to Washington to break The Streak was crushing, as was losing to Nebraska in the OB in 1994. Butch's first game against UCLA hurt like a mother. . . as we knew we sucked and many of us hadn't experienced that as a Canes fan (meaning anyone who attended UM or was a fan starting in the Kelly years). The 31-6 loss to East Carolina was miserable, Kirby Freeman's 1 completion game against GA Tech was equally as brutal, and the dumb ways we lost during the Coker/Shannon/Golden years all brought their own pain.
For baseball- the LSU grand slam was hands down the worst. Nothing else is even close for me.
For basketball, none really stand out. I'd go with the LMU loss if I had to pick one. But the entire last 2 seasons where Perry Clark led the team were terrible times.

The LSU grand slam was the only time in my live I threw the remote at the tv, thank goodness for the old school heavy TV, the remote broke but not the TV, came close with the Aaron Boone hr against the Red Sox in 2003.

I was at that game and had female students mocking us as we left the stadium, if it had been a guy I would have knocked them out.
 
Both Fiesta Bowl losses as we lost titles, had to exercise the demons this year by finally winning a Fiesta Bowl and glad I was there to see that streak end!

That FIU game truly was WTF - because its not like the Middle Tennessee game where our DBs just plain sucked and Kevin Steele had no clue how to run a basic zone, we out gained FIU 413 to 297 yards. FIU didn't even play that good! They had 14 penalties for 126 yards, and they still whooped us!

It also didn't help that Dan Enos had some of the worst goal-line play calling you'll ever see in that game. In hindsight, Manny hiring him should have set off red flags that he had no clue what he was doing.

‘88 in South Bend against the Church in France

‘03 Fiesta, yes we had the BS phantom flag thrown wayyyyyy after the play was over. But in the end our Offense didn’t do squat against them all game, and we still had 4 chances at the goal line to tie and continue OT

But ‘87 by far, for me, is the most infuriating with ‘88 against the church in France right behind
 
The '03 Fiesta Bowl is the obvious answer.

But Virginia blowing us out in the last game of the Orange Bowl hurt me as bad if not way worse.

One of the four FSU losses where we had a kicker named Bubba missed the XP to let us get it into overtime was really...really hard to take.

Losing to the 08 Gators when we figured out how to stop Tim Tebow but we couldnt put an offense on the field. And Ole Miss copied our 4-3 (4-4 Disguise) to beat them that year made it worse.

NGL, last years INT ending in the NC game hurt a whole helluva lot too.

2016. XP was blocked. in 2005, almost the same situation, chip shot FG to tie and Monroe mishandled the snap.
