What to expect from TVD going forward.

Is it me or did he run it a lot more under Lashlee? He had the big run for a first down, but in the past he has seem capable of more of it. I could be wrong i suppose but that is my recollection

I expect teams to follow the same script moving forward, limit the run as much as possible (they’ll be able to better than GTech’s abysmal run D) & force TVD to read defenses and throw into tight windows.

This is a 7-6 team

I think when you self scout yourself to avoid tendencies you run plays your players aren't comfortable running. If something is working you keep doing it until a defense stops it. Then you adapt. But not before. For example, Ray Ray was dynamic on certain plays. Keep playing him. Chris Johnson flashed at times being a runner. Horton made a great play against A and M and has disappeared since. Why? I understand you want to redshirt certain guys. But when they show you they can help the team win right now you give them their touches. I think that was the thing I didn't understand against GT. We didn't employ ALL of our talent to win the game.

Y'all fans are the one cuddling this guy. He's been here 4 yrs, making good money and I'm tired of the excuses for this guy. He can't read defenses, runs like Herman Munster, and shows no leadership traits. It's time for his *** to go I do not want him back next year, he can go to bama or wherever but get the blank out of Miami. As long as he's here, Mario is going to play him, good or bad. I can't stand that preaching competition at every position but QB. He is not an NFL QB, scouts will see it and GMs will pass. He has no intangibles that set him apart from others. How does a got sit in a pocket 10 mins and get ratlled like that. He threw one ball in the ground to Harrell and there was no pressure. In previous games, there were guys running open but he went to x for the "safe" pitch and catch. Stop cuddling him, you're making it worse. You guys think he's better than he is, he's not. I don't want JB11, Emory is still young, so we're stuck. But that doesn't mean he gets a pass with these sorry *** excuses.

I tried to tell yall last year how the receiver room was not happy with the TVD and X connection
But nooooo some people just kept saying it's just a bunch of kids that wouldn't be on the team the next year (which was 90% true) but it still doesn't cover up what they talking about.

Did you read and comprehend that it could possibly be related to his finger injury? It’s pure conjecture on my part. But when I see a wrap on the QB throwing hand, that tells me he still has a problem.
Another dang excuse

I'm very concerned about QB1.

There are no excuses. He has all day to throw and he looks confused not knowing where to go with the football.

TVD had 20 targets to Restrepo. The long pass to Colbie Young happened when X was out of the game. When TVD threw into double and triple coverage, other guys were open. He seems to have tunnel vision for Restrepo. TVD needs to distribute the ball to other players.

I don't know what's going on, but it needs fixed before Saturday.

EVERYONE was sucking TVD off the first 4 weeks and he was one of the top QBs in the nation.

Now because of a bad game, in the rain, with a **** gameplan everyone thinks he sucks? Am i understanding this right?

I'm willing to bet Mario himself looked ahead of this game and told Dawson to hold back because he didn't want to show things to UNC on tape. That's the kind of out smarting himself corch Mario is.

The only thing to worry about TVD would be his finger on his throwing hand. He didn't look to have the same zip on the ball this past week. Don't know if it was the wet ball or his finger, but something was off
He doesn't distribute the ball well. He targets X way too much when other guys are wide open. That's a problem.

X is going to make catches. He's a chain mover. Colbie, Jacolby, and others are playmakers that can score from anywhere on the field and need to get touches.

maybe George should try fighting for the ball.

X is reliable
Thank god for him last saturday

Disagree with all of you about him not distributing the ball
He's done it plenty up to saturday. Go back and look at the drops and guys just not fighting to get open

Nothing to do or take away from X. TVD has a problem. He's relying too much on X and it's hurting himself and the team.

Go watch the game again. There are guys open when he's trying to force the ball.

When teams take away X, then what? Our QB is either going to force the ball into X or hold it because he hasn't been going thru his progressions.

What scares me is that X can't be option 1 every pass play. So, he is either not comfortable with what he sees or just goes to X because he know exactly where he will be.

TVD had 20 targets to his roommate. Nobody else is open?

I like TVD, but I can't unwatch what I saw nor will NFL scouts. He either has a hard time going thru his progressions and/or is locked onto one guy.

In either case it's a problem.

I appreciate all the responses. The one thing that had me concerned going into the GT game was them switching their DC in the middle of the week. I saw where Dawson said he didn’t have a lot of tape to go on for Sherrer, but it didn’t look like they were doing anything special on defense. It looked like some of TVD’s throws weren’t on point, but I’m going to rewatch the tape. Statistically, he didn’t have a bad game, 24-36 288 yards, but the picks were costly.

I might cuddle with his girlfriend but I **** sure ain’t cuddling with him.

Anyway, as the saying goes QB’s get too much credit when things go right and too much criticism when things go wrong. It’s the nature of the beast for a QB at any level.

Both TVD and Dawson have stated that TVD is heavily involved in game planning and they both try to come up with plays that TVD is comfortable with. It was obvious something was off with TVD against GT. Seems to me they out smarted themselves by coming up with new stuff that made TVD uncomfortable and confused.

Stick to what got them to 4-0 and almost 45 points a game and adjust as the opponents defense shows their hand

Jacob by was more interested in fighting with the DB than making catches this game. If you don’t think that plays into who a WB targets then you haven’t a clue. JG wasn’t a good option against GT

This is 1 game where it appeared he was targeting X more. Maybe he felt something u can’t see on TV, maybe in the short game X was the one who could get open. JG surely wasn’t getting any separation.

The GP sucked and we didn’t attack downfield at all. 1 of our starters at WR didn’t have a good game and costs us early with dumb decisions, X got targets. If you think we’re winning anything of substance with Emory then you’re delusional. Better start getting back on the TVD train like you were. Without him we’re are in a world of hurt

But he was graded as the highest QBR in college football through the first 4 games.. one of which against a very competent A$M team, and a surprising Miami OH team.

But yes, he's been awful... smh.
We have literally some of the dumbest fans ever on this board. Kid has been one of the best QB's in the nation and has one bad game this year and now:

1. Won't be drafted
2. Throws ducks
3. Has no leadership
4. Has missed open WR all year.

Wow so there is the place you come to read stupid. SMH

The first few porsters and cormmenters on this thread are total mopes and need to change their tampons. TVD was one of the highest rated QB in D1 up until Saturday night. I've watched Joe Montana, Dan Marino and Tom Brady have bad nights. Why should TVD be any different?

Here's one example:
"TVD is a feeble leader and a mental wreck. No passion or rallying of troops. Rather spend time on the golf course."
How in the fucc do you know this? You having dinner with the Van Dyke family?

Here's another:
"the game plan was extremely basic."
We gained over 450 yards on offense. I dgaf how "basic" the plan is. If you're gaining 450 yards of offense, you're gonna win most of the time.....unless you turn the ball over 5 times AND your coach forgets to install victory formation.

And one more:
"Dawson getting out schemed by the LB coach with 1 week of prep is my biggest concern, outside of TVD."
Outschemed? Their D CLEARLY did not want to get beat over the top and they were in a two deep all night. That D dictates to go underneath - which we did - and the run the ball a lot - which we also did. We averaged 5.5 yards per play and ran THIRTY more offensive plays than they did.

The real question? How does he bounce back.
The realer question? Do the porsters purchase their sanitary napkins by the pallet or the truckload?
Great post and it shows we have a board full of Tampon users. LOL

They don’t play each other lol. I think guidry will have a good plan but i gotta see our personnel cs theirs. But they do have a better defense at every level, and better coaching than gtech who had a new dc from a week ago
I know they don't play each other but their performance often dictates the out come of the game. In cfb your only as good as your qb.

I'm a big fan of TVD overall - but he's streaky. He torched Texas A&M then had a handful of wtf throws against GT

I'm confident the good will pretty easily outweigh the bad our remaining 7 games, but he'll probably have another 1-2 bad ones in there.

I'm much more confident in our passing game than our running game right now.
