and what type of offense will we see this year?

With a QB like Brad Kaaya and the weapons we have I think we should line up in the Shotgun and run an uptempo offense that emphasizes getting the ball out quick. I don't think a conventional style suits us particularly because of all the question marks on the offensive line. Kaaya should have full control of the offense and I would like to see us ditch the " check with me look to the sidelines" approach.

UM hasn't had a QB of this caliber in a very long time. We need to take advantage of that. I can envision an offense that really pushes tempo and has Kaaya spead the football around to his many playmakers. With targets like Coley, Scott, Waters, Berrios, Yearby, Gray, Walton, Herndon and Njoku, that shouldn't be a problem. I also would like to see Coley utilize his RBs in the passing game much more than he has lately. IMO there is no reason that we can't have an effective running game out of the shotgun if we spread teams out.

Last years plodding type of pace will not allow us to realize our potential on offense. We have plenty of talent on offense if it is utilized properly. As far as what I expect from James Coley this year, it's really hard to say. I would think that Coley will most likely have us in 3 WR the majority of the time. My questions are how he integrates the H backs(Herndon Njoku) into the offense in terms of different formations. We should be able to create good mismatches against most defenses. Coley has a great opportunity this season to show that he is up to the task and that he is able to get the most from his talent. Our recent history doesn't exactly inspire confidence however. We'll see.

I agree. When your best player is the QB, why take the ball out of his hands? Let him make plays. I'd love to see him throw 35-40 passes a game, yet still having a good run game. We'll HAVE a good run game if Kaaya can keep the D thinking pass.

oh idk. UM coaches told me that up tempo offenses were easier to defend then the multiple fronts we run. must be why we're ranked so high in total offense

I'm interested to see us line up with 3 tight ends, Coley and a rb, then split out Herndon and Njoku.
Just don't see linebackers, corners or safeties being able to blanket those guys.

The "best fit" is what has always been the best fit at Miami - attack on offense, defense and special teams. The various ways to do it are merely the details. This should always be the over-riding philosophy...It very much fits the players and style of play of the state of Florida and the south...

Even the NFL is backing away from the spread.

Up tempo pro - but give the QB more authority to call his own plays, based on what he's seeing and what he feels.

Anyone that says Spread or anything resembling it is making less since than if one of these old timers checks in and says Wishbone.

Single wing is a superb passing formation. GT is going to try it this year.

Pretty much ALL of the top offenses in the country use some variance of the spread.

Spread no longer means "finesse" or "pass-happy."

In the past 10-11 years, Bama is pretty much the only championship team that didn't run spread.

The best offense AND defense is the one that leaves Golden, D'Onofrio, and DePinga back on campus.

Yes. Absolutely love Ace. Mix ace with empty and this offense could be dangerous if the OL doesn't cause it to crash and burn. The versatility is there. The personnel is there. Everything we can dream of is there if the OL holds up. The bigger question mark going into this season is JColey's poor 3rd down conversion rate. Before I get giddy over formations and sets, Coley has to show something as a playcaller. Dude had Dorsett, Flowers, Johnson, Walford and Kaaya last year and produced what exactly? Inconsistency?

I just hope it moves faster and Kaaya doesn't have to check to the sideline for every play call.
