What is Jaccuri Brown’s potential as a QB at Miami?

Ryan Tannehill played WR and got burn until his Jr year when he was good enough to be the starting QB for A&M. There have been others as well… but even if he’s not good enough/ready to take snaps at QB for us now I’d like to see a way for us to benefit from his size and athleticism.

Just seeing him line up in various spots would make a defense account for him in different ways…expecting a trick play or something that we could possibly exploit to our advantage. Actual on field play time could help boost his confidence too (not that he’s lacking any but I’d like him on the field in some capacity)

I never saw him starting here, but I respect his attitude and desire to keep plugging away at it. He's not a dummy, so as to a potential position change, let him come to that conclusion on his own if he so desires. Right now, he's a QB in my mind until he says otherwise. Who are any of us to question that?

Mario has got to cut the bs, and go find our starting QB for 2024.

Theres way to much at steak for Miami the next few years.

Miami has got to start winning NOW!

Not just for recruiting purposes, but we have got to look like a team the 2 power conference actually give a F about wanting to add.

We can not keep waiting on projects to turn into something and lead us, we just don’t have the time anymore.

I love JB, but the kid has shown nothing when it matters, to make us believe we’ll be successful with him taking over for TVD

THIS. We knew he was a project and needed a couple years of seasoning before we could expect anything from him, HE committed here with idea he would be able to develop behind two four star type QBs. He came with mindset he was going to work and develop. He has said it himself he never had any qb coach or learned any passing concepts in high school, all his high school team did was run him. He never been in a passing scheme compared to some of these qbs who have personal qb coaches and been in passing offenses for year..
You speaking nothing but truth!!!

If we don’t show offensive success on the field it won’t matter. Even “The Greatest Salesman” in the world couldn’t recruit a day one type QB down to South Florida.

I really dig the kid and want him to succeed at QB, but he’s just too inaccurate. OC Dawson has said he can’t teach accuracy. If Jacurri can somehow work with a QB mechanics guru for a year while he redshirts, MAYBE he can get his throws consistently accurate enough. He’s fast af which helps with my patience. I can’t see us not going after a QB in the portal after the season.

He’s much better than he was last year when he got here.

He has 4-years to get right
By far the weirdest progress I have ever seen with him. I am told he improved during spring and laid a major egg in spring game. I continue to hear good things during summer and today happens. I don’t know what to believe.

Definitely Redshirt or get used like the Saints use Taysom Hill. He definitely needs a good QB coach during off season to get reps in! His confidence has probably taken a bit of a dive! Hoping he uses this year to get better! Footballville interview with Kam definitely makes me think he’s slightly an over thinker which can mess with your results

I don’t know.

What has me believing he can be a star more than his size or athleticism is his POISE.

We put him in a horrific situation last year. He never looked like the moment was too big for him. He just stayed calm and kept competing. Combine that with his leadership and work ethic, success is almost inevitable.

If he just gets to a place of decent accuracy on short and intermediate throws, he could be a dominant player.

He can throw downfield. On that wide open smash concept we missed against Clemson, he threw a PERFECT corner route that should have scored, but Restrepo ran a poor route and looked over the wrong shoulder. Now I don’t know if they taught the guys to just run a fly if they are wide open, but I’m pretty sure that one was on X. @Lance Roffers am I wrong about this play?

He just got passed up today by a kid who is a year behind him. Next year he'll likely get passed up by whoever we bring in the 2024 class. The idea that a redshirt year will help seems silly to me. He's always been a low probability project.

Can it happen for him? Yeah, I guess. But if anyone here had to put their own money on the line as to whether he's ever QB1 at UM, I doubt anyone outside of his family puts money on him.

The sooner he gets a position change, the better his chances of getting on the field.

I like the kid. I’ve heard nothing but positive stuff from a character standpoint. Last year he showed great effort and athleticism but arm talent is a big question mark obviously. He has been on campus over a year so he still has time to develop. I’m curious how long you look at him as the qb of the future when his game is so one dimensional.

There is a kid named Kayteon Thompson (99) at UVA who was recruited as a QB and now plays WR/TE flex hybrid. He was a nightmare matchup for us and I think if Jacurri decided this was his path to success he could be a better version of Thompson.

Roast away.
The kid is getting NIL money he should’ve been working with a quarterbacks coach to hone his craft during the offseason! He’s falling further and further behind, he’s gotta put in the work on his own time!

I remember when Gilbert Frierson got an NIL deal making ads for steak while at Miami. Anybody else remember that?

Nice try but you're not doing it right. Lemme show ya:

Getting an NIL deal is like winning the Publisher's Clearinghouse Sweepsteaks.
