What I'm seeing and hearing...

The Offensive issues start & end with SEC Becky.

The run game is struggling (Drunk Joe Namath voice), because teams are packing the box against us. We're running into 7-8+ man fronts, especially on short yardage plays. Why? Because they don't respect the QB, therefore, they can just sit back in 2-high playing Cover 3 & watch his eyes all game.

They know he's going 2 places with the ball. To Toney & CJ Daniels, and there's only 4 routes between the 2 of them that he throws;
For Toney - Drag route, Curl route
For CJ - Button Hook, Deep In

If you watch just 2 games worth of film on Becky, you can perfectly sequence when & where he’s going with the ball.

HENCE WHY HE KEEPS THROWING PICKS ON IN-BREAKING ROUTES... But alas.

The reason why he's uncomfortable when he has time to throw, is because he's not an advanced progression reader. He's a one read & throw QB. DC's since LAST YEAR, have figured out, that all you have to do is confuse Becky with coverage. It's not pressure, or disguised looks, just sit back & watch him & he will take you to the ball.

The major difference in the Offense from last year to this year, is that Defenses were scared to Death of Cam & his improvisational ability. The coverages we saw on a weekly basis were of a result of DC's biting their finger nails off in anticipation for how to stop Cam. They'd play Man, they'd play Zone, they'd give us Cover 2, 3, 5, 6, 0, they'd go presnap Blitz & drop 7, they'd go presnap Zone & come with delayed Blitzes, they tried everything & none of it worked, until FSU when our Patron Saint decided he needed a pound of flesh.

But the point is, the Offensive struggles this season are because DC's don't respect our passing attack & they see on film that they don't need to because our QB is going to give them the ball when they need it & our RB's are going to run directly to them.

A better QB = a better Offense
A better Offense = Winning games we should win

Unfortunately, the HC is a firm believer in the idea of being able to win games in spite of your QB & not because of your QB. Which is why he always loses close games against lesser opponents, because he still hasn't figured out the formula.

Imagine being an elite talent coach and misreading that badly on QB1 and being held hostage by an RB that you’re now forced to force feed in the same offseason … after our best season in years…

Almost as if he really doesn’t know what he’s doing personnel wise.

@DMoney any discussion on:

1) Lack of creative game-planning to out-scheme opponents and scheme adjustments in 2nd half of season? What do all of our analysts actually do here? Seems like massive problem...

2) Going into a conservative shell vs. trying to run up score and put opponents away? This is more debatable but seems to be killing us...
Why would there be?

The are working on fixing the penalties as the top priority. This tells me that they don’t think what they are doing needs to change. Just need to execute

Is let it rip the motto internally from the players to the staff?

Someone smarter than me on OL blocking is going to have to correct me if I’m wrong. But the technique he’s teaching is basically a limited risk style so we don’t necessarily get beat in gaps by attempting to fire off the ball and missing fits? Am I understanding that correctly? It’s essentially inviting the contact into a sumo wrestling format. Yet we have a center that would struggle to not get beat with power by my 4 year old and we still think it’s a good idea with that technique and inside zone style?

Weird that our TE’s are struggling blocking after Mario put one of his fella OL meathead coaches in charge of the room. Maybe we can bring in some game ready TE’s next year, permanently moving Lofton into the backfield along with SJ and hopefully bring Reggie Bain back home as RB coach…

I said this after the Gattis/ Steele debacle:

How many coaches who had 4 coordinators in 2 years were successful?

I said the same thing about Don Chaney. Outside of Gore, how many RBs became successful after back to back years of season ending injuries?

Don Chaney ended up transferring 4 times and is not good.

Mario is gonna fail whether you like it or not. Dawson was the only OC that would deal with the Mirabal crap.

We will have a new OC next year book it, but as we know the offensive results will be the same bc Mirabal is Mario’s Donofrio. Mario gets involved with the defense. The amount of soft coverage we play is sickening. Every QB gets player of the week just like every QB did when Donofrio called the shots.

The only hope is Mario is Ron Zook and find an Urban Meyer.
So Mario will go into year 5 on his 3rd oc and 3rd dc.Is this a record,is it common place.

Sorry that it’s flying above my head, but who’s Becky?

Key take-away is the lack of urgency on offense is a recipe for disaster. When you run down the play clock & grind it out, you’re shortening the game while allowing less talented teams to hang around. Then, throw in our penchant for penalties & you’re now in a dog fight. Laugh at chatter about being in one possession & one score games - well, we’re writing the script. Don’t need an MIT degree to figure this **** out.
Finally, the offensive line play has been on a steady decline for 3-4 weeks - pre-snap penalties galore & an undersized center who is almost unplayable. Chuckle recalling our board geniuses pumping up Mario & his little coaching friend during the recruitment of Jackson Cantwell. We boasted about the best OL tutors in the country. Stacy Searels & Mike Bobo were absolute trash. Well, play on the field is what matters & UGA’s offense isn’t perfect, but it’s more creative & stat-wise clearly better than what we’re putting out. Just imagine our offensive production if Toney had hung around for his HS senior year.
