What if..

Has nothing to do with race. Has every with helping strengthen your community. Other ethnic community have alot of economic power because they spend their money in the community. That is money circulate d several times before it leaves they community.

They are no absolute in life, so it would be all the black people any way. You white people go to HBCU too?

I have two friends (white) who went to HBCU's. One went to Howard, (his father was a respected professor and he got a full scholarship). The other went to an HBCU because he was a killer trombone player and wanted to be in, as he called it, "a real band" and the only serious bands in his mind were ones that were going to light it up on BET.

So, yeah, there are white people who attend HBCU's

Lmfao Bagmen are usually alumni of the school
Perhaps some incredibly well heeled $100MM+ net worth celebrity types can be convinced to be HBCU advocates...cough..cough...bagmen...er I mean program ambassadors.

I'm sure you could name a few off the top of your head. Wasn't their a self-owning report of how much Dr. Dre donated to USC, coincidentally just ahead of his daughter's admission?

Why not support an HBCU? Wouldn't that be leading by example? Send a powerful message to the nation?

Unless of course, they aren't committed to affecting positive changes in the communities they represent.

Lebron James kid is not going to a HBCU, give me a break

You think Lebrons fake *** woul let his kid do that good

Sounds great in theory, until SEC bagmen show up, then all bets are off.
Naw the SEC bagman would be rendered null and void (that’s a big part of the motivation to make the change in the first place), when the TV contracts accompany the arrival of the top black talent in the country it would must see TV.

We then break away from the NCAA as a regulatory body and pay our players while allowing the billions in tv revenue to making sure they receive a top 20 education, paying higher wages to attract the best professors and allowing the student-athletes to major in whatever courses they desire.

And the BEST INCENTIVE would be grants, scholarships, public assistance, community projects and job training directly to the underserved, underrepresented neighborhood of each brother willing to commit and be a trailblazer.

Bag Season for the hood as a COLLECTIVE, NOT just for individuals and their families. The whole neighborhood eats off of the human capital it produces!

Agreed. We need come together and help one another

I think it’s more plausible in Men’s Basketball. All it takes is five dudes that decide to make that kind of statement. A fab five, if you will.

There only 3 maybe 4 Teams with elite talent through out their roster. Most teams, probably 15 to 20 percent of their roster is good to elite talent

It would be probably be a 3 year transition. If all the elite talent from every power conference team transfer out this year. This year signing class and next year signing. Famu would be putting foots in FSU by 2022. It's not like the cupboard is extremely bare at HBCU
That would make me as happy as The U putting foots in FSU...

Unreal.

I had to look twice just to be sure I was reading the words correctly.

Will.Never.Happen.

First, it won't, because grandma and uncle will NEVER (and I mean NEVER) turn down bag money. So unless the HBC's start dropping serious cash, the kids will continue to be easily bought.

Second, it shouldn't, because the last thing the world needs right now is more segregation. The HBC's have an important role to play in our society, and have a key historical legacy in this country. If any kid believes a HBC is best for them, then that is perfectly fine. But to imply "you should go there because of your race," is a more than a bit troubling. I really hope that's not what you meant.
I'll tell you what and I'm not gonna go any further. You'd see a lot less kids being chewed up & spit out by the machine of major college football. No other school will love them for who they are beyond what they do on an athletic field like an HBCU. Argue with me all you want on that, you're better off arguing with a brick wall...

That's all it would take. There are enough wealthy black folk to get the ball rolling. Will they is another question, and so far the answer has been no...

Rattler...I'm assuming (from your avatar) you have a much better tan than I do...

How do you feel about HBCUs? How do you feel in general? What can you share?

Obviously I'm for them. First and foremost they were created because no White institution in America would accept a Black student, point blank. Some people may hear the acronym and think there may have been a time when non-Black students couldn't attend, and even the truly ignorant(not in the insulting way, but genuinely lacking knowledge) may think they can't up to the present day. That has never been the case. And I can guarantee you that the first White kid to attend an HBCU didn't need a National Guard escort to sign up for classes. When I attended there were many White and non-Black students there. When I was a freshman, which was during the last seasons we were in the 1-AA Playoff picture, our WR1 was Charlie Allen. Cool *** Whiteboy from Killian. I'd even go as far to say that there may have been as many as or more than the amount of Black kids at the Clown School for Girls(if you adjust the numbers to exclude athletic scholarship recipients, it ain't even close). They are esteemed institutions and pillars of Black America and have always been essential for the progress of our community. My alma mater sits in one of the rough areas of Tally(ironically, the other is across the North border of semenhole territory), the survival of that neighborhood is intrinsically linked to the success of FAMU. I'm certain that we're the #1 employer in the area, no doubt. Could you imagine the economic impact that would occur for the Southside if we could keep enough of our talent to supplant North Dakota St. as the FCS Big Dog, let alone enough to thrive on a G5 or P5 level???Throughout the years, the schoolhouse and its faculty has been an extension of home and family. I'm not saying that a Black kid can't have professors or administrators that genuinely care for them at a White university, not at all, but I'm willing to bet it won't be the same as at an HBCU. Given our unique history and collective condition as a people in this country, there is an extra vested interest in the success of every young man & woman who can gain entry. Just like I'll always agree with an academically gifted AA kid choosing to attend FAM, Howard, or Tuskegee over Harvard, Yale or Princeton, I'd definitely be all for one who's athletically gifted if he chooses Grambling over L$U or to be a BCU Wildcat instead of a ******' ****...

not going to argue with you on that one point, as i'm not convinced you're wrong.

What kind of statement is that?

The statement is to give blue blood schools in the racist south like, Kentucky, Duke, et al., the 🖕🏻. In addition, it would boast the bottom lines of HBCU, which educated generations and generations of African-Americans and produced amazing leaders in all fields.
