Let me be perfectly clear I hate Al. He's incompetent, refuses to make adjustments, and has brought the program to one of it's lowest lows in years. However, I just don't see anyway he gets fired after this bowl game. He's shown everything there is to know about Al Golden up to this point and for some absurd reason, he is still employed by the University of Miami to ruin a bunch of talented kids football careers. With this all being said, I don't know if I should be rooting for a loss (while obviously rooting for the players) or rooting for a win. A loss would just absolutely dog pile the frustration of Miami fans, media, and former players right on Al's desk. It also theoretically puts us on the fast track for a new head coach sooner than later. Winning, on the other hand, gives a very limited boost in recruiting, but also allows Al another W on his Miami checklist. A bowl win at that. But a win also helps us maintain the Jordan Scarlett's, the Jaquan Johnson's, etc. These kids are blatant studs we can not afford to miss. It would also be nice to send Duke, Denzel, and Chickillo and the older boys out with a win. Should we be rooting for a win or rooting for a loss? What if we did win - the future coaching-wise, recruiting effect, general thoughts?

I hope we miss on every stud and lose every game by 70, go 0-12 and hit absolute rock bottom of the cfb world, making it impossible to retain fat**** after next year.

Salvaging a recruiting class is the worst thing that could possibly happen.

This admin has shown a willingness to go 6-6 for an eternity, it needs to be drastic, or we're going to be stuck in this ****.

Sounds like a good plan. :suspicion: It'd probably be a little better for the future coaches sake if he actually had some real talent to work with.

Future coach is building from the ground up anyway, breaking the dodge ball participation medal attitdue anyway. There's not a kid on the team that would last 4 years in the military, much less a cfb team.

This program is dead, next coach has to undo 5 years of Al Golden loser mentality. It's completely damaged goods.

The only saving grace would be Butch, but that's becoming less and less likely.

I agree it takes time to set a new demeanor in place. I like the idea of bringing a hardass coach in right away and toughen these boys up real quick. Al is soft lets be real. I would still like the coach to not have all jags right off the bat. A Jordan Scarlett talent can make any coach look better.

No. The next coach needs players. I want an Urban Meyer turnkey project, not a five-year rebuild.

Golden isn't going to save his job with recruiting rankings. He needs to win, and his track record says he won't.

Mark my words, even if we win, we aren't holding this year's class together. It is going to fall apart. Recruiting season won't begin in earnest until after the bowl games and once it does, 7-6 is not a great selling point. We're gonna be losing guys left and right.

There is no next coach. Year 4, hovering around .500 is status quo. Get real.

Losing kids is inevitable. But the salesman himself can sell the true freshman All American QB all he wants. We just have to hope we have recruits out there with this mentality - http://instagram.com/p/xDZxWkuOOt/

Winning would give the retards who know absolutely nothing about football some sense of heading into the offseason with "momentum" and would fuel them to spew continuous off base reasoning that Golden somehow trending in the right direction.

If you're a human being with any semblance of intelligence and call yourself a Canes fan...you're rooting for a loss tomorrow. No if's, and's, or but's about it.

If his win/loss record isn't going to get him fired, why would a bad recruiting class do the trick?

The decision-makers don't follow recruiting like you and me. They aren't going to say, "Golden kept Jordan Scarlett, let's keep him around."

Golden will be judged on wins and losses. When the inevitable happens, and he fails, I want the new coach to have a full cupboard to work with.

Oh please. Year 5 is a **** thank you gift for staying with us during the whole overhyped NCAA mess. The only difference between Al and his predecessor is Al speaks more articulate english. He talks a good offseason game. I can personally guarantee you Al knows next year HAS to be different or its bye.

Recruiting studs is what keeps his W/L hovering .500... A couple bad classes, and Goldens easily a 2-10 1-11 coach.

This team minus Duke and/or Kaaya would've done the trick at 4-8/5-7. My fear is going 21-15 over the next 3 seasons. Drastic times.

Lmao... Next year.

That's a first, haven't heard that before.

We have a president whose on her way out, a pip squeak of an athletic director with probably zero eye-hand coordination, and the board of trustees who nobody really knows about. Who in the line of people even has the power to fire him. What makes you think Donna's last move as a human being at the University of Miami is take the head coach's job away. F Donna by the way; however, I can't help but just assume Al knows he's got one more year to show a legit improvement. Sorry if assuming kills my credibility.

That's my point. Losing or winning the bowl game will have minimal effect on this class. It's going to fall apart regardless. You've got coaches and area personalities publicly telling kids not to come here as long as Golden is coach. Going 6-7 however will help to further persuade the decision makers once it's time to finally remove this cancer from our team. If I have the choice between 7-6 or 6-7, I'm going with 6-7 for the long term benefit. Especially if we have a losing season next year as well (which I anticipate)

We're seeing eye to eye, except the overall picture. Losing begets losing, and the entire system from the BoT to the admin is fine with that.

If your solution is get lucky with a new president, than I hope youre right, I'm onboard. I'm not a gambling man though, I'd rather the sure thing, which is going 0-12 and forcing their hand. Losing is one thing, but completely failing is another.
