Yeah dead ball immediately is what the ex ref said.No fumbles allowed then once you start the slide?

Not cool and he should be hot about it. It's just one more element of the game you add to the defense to slow them down and start analyzing should I hit him or should I pull up. Ncaa and NFL favor offense and write the rules to give them the upper hand.![]()
Wake coach: Pitt QB's fake slide a slippery slope
After his Wake Forest defense was victimized by a fake slide from Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett, Demon Deacons coach Dave Clawson thinks the NCAA should outlaw such a move.www.espn.com
Clawson is a bit salty about it:
I think you play to the whistle, but I can see where penalties and injuries could result from if it became normal.
100% agree, you don't get to have your cake and eat it too. It's not fair to the defender. Usually these guys land awkwardly when trying to avoid a slider. Play should be reviewed and placed at that point.Yeah, they have to outlaw that sort of thing. The slide is to protect the player. Once you start the motion, that’s it. You’re down
Apples and oranges. They were comparing it to the Marino fake spike which I also did not like at the time but there is no rule against it so it was a smart play.
Agreed, blast that *****, not helmet to helmet, but definitely whip out some WhoopAss…. Legally of course. Last time that dik does that.Total garbage move that isn't as funny as the announcers/media have made it.
If you are a DC, tell your players "open season"*.
*obviously won't work penalties wise
It needs to be looked at similar to a fair catch signal on a punt... refs need to call that because of the penalties involved in roughing the QB![]()

I would have told my players if he does it again to take his head off.
I would have sent a walk on headhunter to take one for the team and knock his head off at the next offensive series... that would put an end to his nonsense.
If I'm a college football player and I get a rule named after me, "The Pickett Rule", I'd be proud as ****. ngl.Yeah they’re going to have to address this one. That can’t be allowed, defenses are already neutered in what they cannot do and they shouldn’t have to worry about trickery like this.
