Sprints are not highly relevant to football, unless you're discussing truly elite times. Moreover, anything over 110mH is irrelevant to football speed. If someone isn't running about 10.5 or better in the 100, it's no guarantee that that person is exceptionally fast during a football game. 60m times are much more relevant to football speed, but even they are not an end all, be all, unless you're talking about CJ Spiller/Jacoby Ford kinda speed in the 60m. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, when someone runs a truly elite 60m time, it's all but a guarantee that he can outrun angles on a football field. However, there may be guys slower in the 60 who can also do so - the percentage chance of elite football speed simply increases as the track time decreases. The times I would look for as a "guarantee" of football speed are probably far better times than most on here. You can run a sub 11 100m and not be that fast in a football game - you start slow and have a high top end at 60-80m, and you can run 11...but it's also useless speed on a football field. You could start fast and not have the top end, resulting in 11 - that would be useful in football. The point is, if you're running 10.5 or better, you are fast to start and fast at finish - that translates.
